With all the rain we had last winter, this spring and now this summer, my plastic, under $100., Sump Pump died on me and flooded my basement! Before it died, I noticed it was turning on all the time, day and night. It was struggling to pump out all of the water my area has been stricken with. I opened up the box of my new 1 HP Professional Sump Pump made by Everbilt, placed it into the sump hole and tightened the nut to my original piping and bingo, installed and ready to go. This cast iron sump pump really can drain the water in no time flat. I really like the new design of it's vertical float over the ball I had on my other pump. The ball seemed to get stuck on the electrical cord at times, probably from all the vibration from the cheap plastic unit. I thought this 1 Horse Power pump would be real loud but it isn't. Storms predicted again today & tomorrow but I'm ready for them this time.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by jonjon1 Easy to follow instructions and quick set up
We will use this during the winter when our parking area floods because it is slightly below grade. We tried it out in a friends swimming pool to check the flow rate and make sure that it will do the job when the rain comes.
It moved the water quicker than we anticipated and so it will no doubt work for our minor flooding in our parking area this winter. The instructions were easy to follow and it was easy and quick to set it up and start pumping water. This is the perfect solution for our temporary problem for us and although we aren't using it in the traditional application, it is solving our problem. Not too heavy, easy to move and put in place as needed.

This was a perfect addition to my collection of indispensable household tools. I have a flock of ducks and an old, 700 gal. stock tank type pond for them on my 3 acre farm. They muck it up often and it needs to be drained, cleaned, and refilled. Since it is semi buried in ground, I cannot use the plug to drain it. I was using an old pond pump previously, but it was slow going. I got this and it emptied the pond in nothing flat. It really saved me a LOT of time to do an otherwise dreaded job. The nice thing about it is I can leave it in the pond and use it for removing excess rain water also. Let see how long it lasts over time. I've only used it once since I got it a couple weeks ago.

The installation was a breeze and as with any sump pump, I prefer the vertical float switch. Personally, it is the only kind of a pump I would want to install. The pump can be installed with smaller diameter sump basins, and the float switch does not need a horizontal clearance as the water level increases. The 1 hp rating is excellent for moving a larger volume of water in a hurry. The check valve works flawlessly as does the pump. I am very satisfied. It's a beast of a pump and durable yet quiet.

Although my home doesn't have a basement some properties that I own do. Flooding in this area is a common problem I ordered this pump in anticipation of the next flood. It arrived quickly and was packed well. I powered it up and tested the float switch, everything is working as it should. I installed a plastic 1 1/2" nipple on the outlet port and purchased a 50' backwash hose. (Home Depot Poolmaster Model # 32165) and hose clamp. Since this will not be permanently installed I wanted it as portable as possible. The hose folds flat and rolls into a neat little bundle. Bring on the water...I'M READY!
