CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by That second came. It broke. Unfortunately for the previous reviewer, it took a lot of abuse to break mine. I used it to dig dirt, rocks, and gravel. I used the backside of it to pack dirt. I dug up bushes and chopped through the roots with it. I threw it across the yard, and even played javelins with it. I left it out in the rain, and let it bake in the hot sun. I put this shovel through a lot, and it held up better than I would expect a 6 dollar shovel to do. What ultimately caused it to break was me putting way too much leverage on the handle by attempting to pry a large chunk of concrete from being embedded in the dirt. It broke due to my own mistake. Know what I did when it broke? I went out and bought another 6 dollar shovel and finished the job. Seriously, if you need a shovel for around the house, go with this. At $5.96, you can't go wrong. If you want something stronger, pay a little more. January 16, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Weak handle Dug out an old rotting stump and tried to use the shovel as leverage on one of the roots that was sticking out. Handle broke fairly quickly. End of the handle is not sanded smooth. Gave it an extra star because it the price was cheap but I probably could have used that 5 bucks to buy a footlong sandwich instead. November 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Can't beat cheap Picked this up today. Did not feel cheap. Yeah, the head's held on with two rivets, but it held up to me abusing it pretty well today. Dug out some deep roots, a metal rod embedded in a foot and a half of concrete, completely cleared out a flower bed and laid down mulch with it, much like the reviewer below me. Zero complaints. Got it for $5.70 with the veteran's discount. I don't plan on using it a whole lot after I fix up our flowerbeds, but I have full confidence in its ability to dismember a zombie's brain when the time comes. April 7, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by This could break at any second Wish I read the product description before I was in the store. After reading that this is intended for light use it all makes sense. I am a proponent of buying quality, even if you have to pay a little more for it. For some reason however I just couldn't get my self to spend $40 for a shovel I would rarely use. Looking back at the summer season I am really using this shovel for light mulching and gardening, so I am in line with the product's uses. It does look and feel cheap though. Wood handle does not seem "solid" and the blade is cheaply folded over and attached with two small screws. I'm afraid with a good plant step that I will bend/snap any or all parts. November 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sturdy enough for my use Long handled shovel, works well for me. I probably won't be digging to china with it, that would take a sturdier blade and handle. I like it, and the price was right. April 15, 2014
