PRODUCT OVERVIEW

These wood screws are thread forming screws with larger threads and sharp points for ease of installation. Used for directly fastening two wood surfaces. The smooth tapered shank under the head prevents the wood from pulling or splitting and allows for a more flush placement against the surface. They can be removed with less damage to wood than nails and do not require a pre drilled hole or nut. Available in many sizes, materials, and finishes.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 1 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Defective Screws - Heads break off. AVOID!! Home Depot sells some good products but this is not one of them. The heads broke off all four screws. I continued after breaking the first one thinking it had to be a random defect. I predrilled the holes with a 1/16" bit and 3/4" deep into oak. I started with a rechargeable screwdriver but finished with a manual screwdriver. With ONLY ABOUT 15 lbs. of torque the heads gave way. There was no sudden snap. They just seemed to twist off in the same spot below the bevel. They were going in a cabinet door hinge I had hand mortised so I can't move the hinge. If you wonder why anyone would review a screw, maybe you never had to remove a broken one. You go from being one screw turn away from completing your project to an hour or more. There's another review citing the same problem with Everbilt sheet metal screws. I had been at a real hardware store the day before but forgot to buy quality screws so this $1 defective product cost me a few hours over two days. Don't make the same mistake! On the positive side the HD Store Manager gave me a tap & die set and special drill bits so I could remove the broken screws. He also told an assistant to notify a specific person next Tuesday. The only other thing he could do is remove the screws from the hooks. March 9, 2014
