CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 1.9 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great light output, price is right. Easy to replace in 4 yrs. I've had this type light for over 12 yrs. The light holds up great in wind and rain, but the sensors tend to wear out in about 4 to 5 yrs under heat and humidity of Northeast Florida. Easy and low cost to replace. The light quality is great- my entire back yard (one acre) is visible like on a bright moonlit evening. The only drawback is that you'll be replacing it in 4-5 years (I bought two- one as a spare for when that time comes). Still a good value. June 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not for areas with bugs or cold temps I purchased a light and installed in the backyard. The circuit board was shorted by a bug landing across the terminal board because the vent holes were large enough to permit the bug entry. I purchased a second light and using RTV glued a piece of metal bug screen over the vents to prevent another bug from shorting out this light. We have had over a week of sub-zero temps. The light is no longer functioning and inserting a new bulb doesn't help. If you live in a cold climate, go with a mercury vapor light if you want light in cold temps. I am going to try to put a warmed bulb in and try it. If it doesn't work, I will be switching. The two lights purchased in this review didn't last 8 months total between them. February 1, 2008
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality, poorly designed, does not last long I purchased several of these fixtures a while ago. The fixtures did not last long--one only lasted a few months, while others lasted a couple of years. They failed because the internal electronic ballast went bad. Unlike typical CFL fixtures, the ballast is housed in the fixture and is not part of the bulb. So replacing the bulb would not solve the problem. And there is no way to replace the internal ballast without replacing the entire fixture. Although the lighting was otherwise very good, the poor quality of these fixtures makes them unacceptable in my opinion. I suspect these fixtures were PURPOSELY designed with a short lifespan. It would be better if the fixture was designed with CFL bulbs with a replaceable ballast. I would strongly advise to stay away from these fixtures. April 3, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good and Bad I have owned several of these and some are good while most are not. I am a retired lineman from a local utility and have had a lot of experience with outdoor lighting. The problem with these and some of the lights that we had are the starting circuits that cause the light to start up. These parts cannot be replaced locally and require that you send the light back to the manufacture for replacement. This company does sell a 65 watt bulb that you can use in a 175 watt mercury light. I have several of these and they work perfect. The light seems as bright as the 175 watt mercury bulb and cost a lot less to operate. The lights that I have have a ballast but I am not sure that all 175 watt mercury lights do. These bulbs may not work in a light that does not have a ballast. Home Depot did carry these bulbs, but I am not sure that they still do. April 7, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great when they work...but won't work for long. Bought 2 for a barn that were protected under large eaves. One lasted about a year and the other lasted a few months longer. The problem seemed to be with the diode or circuit board. Also the flimsy plastic mounting bracket snapped. When they worked the quality of light was very easy on the eyes unlike a sodium or mercury lamp. Wouldn't take too much to improve this light, but I won't give them another chance at this point. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap flimsy plastic with useless plastic mounting bracket Cheap product with flimsy plastic mounting bracket that's useless to install in an outdoor setting where it's exposed to the elements. The product is so fragile, doubtful if it will last a year in the elements of Florida or the northeast USA. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! July 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worked over 7 years I have two of these lights I bought in 2003. These are very energy efficient. I will say that the housing doesn't provide enough protection against very wet locations. The light in the front of my house has the overhang of the roof to help protect it. The backyard light however, does not and when it pours down rain the light will cease to work for several days. This last rain may have done it in because it has not come back on for a week now. May be the bulb. I will check it later. Good bright light with a small price. Only had to replace the bulb once that I can remember. December 16, 2010
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dies on Day 100 I like the light, but it died right after the warranty. So me thinks DO NOT buy this, as you may be disappointed like me. $ down the drain... November 22, 2014
