I wanted a rustic looking kitchen island but did not want to spend a lot. Not being super handy or skilled at building things, this work bench looked perfect and affordable. The whole project took one week from start to finish and cost $110.
First I removed the back lip and sanded the entire piece smooth with palm sander. I glued some birch accent embellishments on the corners. After it was smooth, I brushed on watered down wood glue to seal the MDF top. Then I started staining (1-QT Varathane Stain + Poly in dark walnut) 3 coats of the stain. To make the top more interesting I painted a tree motif with dark brown acrylic paint (purchased at a craft store) on top of the dry stain. The top was then finished off with several coats of (8-oz. Satin Polycrylic).
It is a stable table and adds extra work space. Paired with some stools, it makes the perfect morning coffee drinking spot. I am very pleased with the look and get many compliments on it. Whether you plan on using this work bench as intended or for other purposes, it is highly customizable, sturdy, and well priced.

I don't normally write reviews, however I felt compelled to on this item. I have been searching for a beginner Gunsmith Workbench for a month now. I ended up buying a workbench from HF and when I got home and unpacked it, I started to notice that there were a lot of individual pieces. Then I realized that not only was there no instructions, but there was no hardware to assemble it. On top of all of this, I noticed the overall quality of it was very poor (made overseas).
So I immediately returned it the next day and quickly headed to my local Home Depot to check out the floor display of this bad boy! Well it didn't take me long to realize not only was this better quality than the HF one, it was also Made in America! The fact that it literally only takes a few minutes to assemble! Once set up and in-place, I quickly setup my shop, and I did not need to use the supplied Instructions! I like this workbench so much I will be picking up a second one for reloading!

For the price, great bench. My friend had a bench built for $300, and it looks the same as this $69 bench. It was up and together in 3 minutes. The type of wood on top of the bench makes is easy to put finish on. No need to sand when done. Oh, and, finish makes the bench look great. Getting it home was easy. The bench is 90 lbs. Strong and sturdy. A must have for the money. The picture on the home page looks different than the real wood bench. Check the photos to see how it really looks.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by HandyGirl Great for all kinds of work areas!
I used this work table to build a quilting/sewing area in a spare bedroom. I added wheels (with breaks) because the table is 96lbs. It's so much better than a prefab "crafting" table. It was very easy to assemble. I sanded a little, then painted and finished up with some panel drapes. There was plenty of storage room underneath for all my supplies, fabric and sewing machines. There is no need to spend tons of money of a crafting area. Just a little elbow grease, paint and creativity. This was a great buy!

The price and quality are excellent. I had it up and using it in no time. I was going to screw it to the wall to add stability but didn't need to. It's that stable. I'm using it for a reloading bench as well as to work on computers.
