I'm not sure what kind of metal this tool is made of. If it's metal at all. The handle snapped in half while tearing the plastic film off of the package. never even used it. Since it broke getting it out of the pkg, I'm taking it back.

I'm a first time mirror cutter. I chose this over the other cheaper "General Tools 5 in. Glass Cutter" because this one can cut up to 1/4" as opposed to 1/8". I also passed on the $13 kit because the cutter seemed just a hair thinner and the oil/marker are not worth the extra money. I used wd40 and even zippo fluid with great success. After my first go at it, I became fully convinced that most of all the negative reviews you find about these cutters are unfounded. I think there's about a hundred wrong ways to use this tool and only one correct way. After doing some research and watching a few videos before hand, I knew what to expect, what I should look for, and what I should listen for. I made a straight cut with it and barely saw much of a line in the mirror. I was a bit underwhelmed until i put the ball end under one side of the line and place such a small amount of pressure. CRACK! A beautiful clean break. It works and better than I was expecting. 4 stars because nothing is perfect....

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Kevin Broke after 3rd use!
I chose this over the cheaper ones - because I thought it would translate to quality. My mistake. The cutter broke in two after just 3 uses - cutting 1/8" sheet glass! Shamefully poor quality white metal. Manufacturer failed to respond when contacted.

It doesnt cut well, scored the glass and does not provide a good cut. Wasted a $45 piece of glass using this thing.

As an amateur glass craftsman, I found this cutter to be of poor quality. It is very difficult to get a complete score” across a cut. The blade “skipped” and did not roll well.
Overall, this is not a good tool for a beginner.
