CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Perfect Solution I have had traditional hot tubs for the better part of 30 years, but when we downsized and moved to a condo, I had to sell mine because of the concerns about weight, noise and size. I love living here, but I really missed having a hot tub. Well, the Alpine Spa seemed to solve the weight issue as it is only 180 or so gallons. The size issue would be solved as the 62 inch square footprint of the Alpine would fit nicely on my 7 X 20 foot deck and is perfect for my wife and I (not really a 4 person spa unless you are real friendly with the other folks. :-). As for price; a no-brainer. So, I figured that if the noise level of the Alpine was low, then after an extensive search of all the alternatives, then this could be the right spa for me! The spa arrived from UPS just as described, although it comes with only 1 reusable filter, not 2 as noted in the manual. (Additional filters are available in 2-packs very inexpensively online and are nice to have so that you always have a clean one ready to go between cleanings.) I unpacked the unit and unfolded it myself as described in the manual and online video. (My unit did arrive with the DVD, but I had already watched it online.) It took a few minutes to figure out the mechanics of inflating it as the pictures in the manual and the English translation were not completely in sync, but moments later it was begging for water! Please note that it does inflate quickly, so be sure to closely watch the gauge they supply (manometer) as you inflate it. I initially fill a spa with heated water from my kitchen faucet using a garden hose adapter so as to cut down the initial ramp-up time. I think this also puts less strain on the heating element in any electric spa and is less costly as well. That night, we had our first soak at 104 degrees! As it turned out, the noise level of the Alpine while in filter/heating is almost non-existent…whisper quiet. The blower for the bubbles (which also inflates the unit) is a bit loud…I would say it is similar to a hand-held hair dryer. I do not use the bubbles much as we mostly prefer just a nice quiet soak before bedtime. So for me, the Alpine successfully passed the noise concern as well. As I said, the Perfect Solution! Now that the spa is set up, I will keep it in-place more or less permanently. The thermostat keeps the water at the desired temperature even on our chilly winter nights (25-40 degrees) here in Northern California. (Note: Many competitive inflatable spas cannot be used below 40 degrees.) To help with heating costs, I recommend adding a bubble/thermal blanket on top of the water (available at pool stores for a nominal cost) as the provided cover is not very insulating by itself. I use a mineral-based cartridge disinfectant system (name brand omitted) thereby minimizing the use of granulated chlorine to a teaspoon or so after each use. I pre-load the chlorine into “pill-packs” I got from the drug store, which really simplifies this process after each use. I have used this system successfully for many years and it really cuts down on the need for harsh chemicals, which is good for the spa and the bathers while leaving no unpleasant odors. I use standard spa chemicals to maintain the a proper pH, etc. From past experience, I will probably change the water 3 to 4 times a year, as needed. Well, we have had the Alpine Spa for about a week now and we are as thrilled as we could be. Only time will tell how durable the unit is and how much it costs to heat. Given my planned use, I am hoping that it will last for a good long while. The unit seems to be very well constructed in all regards for what it is. Warranty repairs are available through the company that ships the unit for Home Depot. So, check out the online video from the maker. It just might be the Perfect Solution for you too! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great little spa! The Alpine 4-Person Inflatable Spa is a spacious TWO-person spa. (4-person is a misnomer)! It works as advertised, and we're (two of us) giving it a daily workout. Not leaving the heat on all the time, we usually turn it on about four hours before we're ready to get in. 96 degrees is about where we prefer it and the spa easily maintains that temp. The accompanying generic owner's manual has a "parts list" of items which were NOT included with our spa (the CSR I spoke with on the phone called it an "entry level" spa.). Entry level or not I'm still awaiting receipt (2 weeks) of a useable DVD owner's manual, not to mention the adhesive that's shown as part of the patch repair kit (which was not in the kit). Even with (or, perhaps, I should say without) the missing parts, we are enjoying this "great little spa," and we'd definitely do it again! No regrets! October 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent For The Price So Far This hot tub,so far,is a great portable alternative to the high overpriced hot tubs out there today..Unfortunately the portable hot tub (Insta-Spa) I had purchased 2 years ago did not last much past the 1 year warranty.I hope I can get a few years out of this one. This Mspa B-090 is much better made and cost alot less then the last one and is easier to maintain and is more energy efficient, and way more quiet.I keep it inside the house in the basement and out of the weather..In my opinion portable hot tubs should only be outside in the warmer months or not at all.I have had this one up and running since 9/16/13 without a problem.I keep the temperature around 100 to 101,,My wife and I use it almost everyday for 45 minutes to an hour and using the proper chemicles I strive to keep the water balanced and pristine and filtered for 3 to 4 hours a day with complete water changes every 3 months..I wish people would review these portable hot tubs after a year or more..I will because I am really afraid of their lasting ability..But as of right now I highly recomend this one...;)~ October 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT LITTLE SPA FOR THE MONEY! Had it for just 2 weeks and works great. Goes up to 104 degrees but takes a while so plan ahead, roughly 2 to 3 degrees per hour depending on outside temp. Wife and I enjoy it, relaxing and lots of massaging bubbles. I do use a chlorine kit and test strips to keep the water clean. I hope it last a while. seems fairly durable....good spa and good value...... June 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great! Overall this product is great it was pretty easy to set up, the people that wrote it were not English speakers so some of the instructions don't really make sense but watch the video for clarification. The only issues is how long it takes to warm this up its about 3 to 4 degrees an hour so you just need to plan ahead. Overall I am really happy with it. April 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One Year and Still Loving It! It has now been 1 year since I wrote my first review of this spa and I still remain a big fan. We have had zero problems with any component of the unit and I see little, if any wear to the tub itself. Please keep in mind that this is NOT a $6000 spa. It is however a very good $600 spa and it does what it does very well. The written directions are not very good, but the DVD is helpful. It does take a bit of problem-solving to figure-out how the inflation process works, but once you do it is really quite simple. The heater raises the temperature at about 1-2 degrees per hour. The blower to generate bubbles will cool the spa down more quickly than otherwise. Not an issue for me as I never use the blower; it is a bit loud to be used at night in a multi-unit building. The spa will stay at about the temp you set for a 15 to 20 minutes of use with the blower off or about 7-10 minutes with it on. However, if you are hoping that this spa will hold it's temperature un-covered in the middle of winter for hours, go back to my comment about this not being a $6000 spa. I think it is costing about $50 to $60 per month in electricity. I keep it at 98 degrees during the day and turn it up to 104 at about 7PM. By 11PM its ready. I have changed the water only 3 times and have not had to add any air to the unit in a year. My previous review discusses how to maintain the water quality. One heads-up is that if there is a power failure, the unit will not reset itself. Still, this spa has been a God-send to me and I still highly recommend it! January 21, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Not happy with product. Took a long time to set up. Once up and filled and heated to the temp. and got in to enjoy notice that the bubbles blows out cool air causing water temp. to drop and got to cool to enjoy. Maybe if you lived in a place where the nights aren't to cool it might be better. It was in the 50's when we tried it. Over all thinking about sending it back. October 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't connect Unfortunately, the inflation hose won't connect, rendering the product useless. The accompanying video shows how to install the hose but offers no emphasis on the connection. Imagine trying to get a needle to stay in a doughnut hole. Impossible. Are there parts missing? Could be but I don't know because there's no parts list. December 24, 2013
