CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Should last forever! After 13 satisfactory years with an adjustable (mainly plastic) tree stand, we had a spectacular fail of it in Dec. 2013 (the tree fell over . . . just 2 hours after being decorated . . . onto our dining room table . . . which had been set for dinner . . . sigh. So, for Dec. 2014, I set out on a quest for a new tree stand. After reading the reviews on our previous stand, I was saddened to see that the quality had apparently gone down and was hesitant to spend $80+ on a new stand which might not last more than one or two seasons. After much searching, and reading reviews, and searching again, I came across the Iron Mountain Welded Tree Stand on Home Depot's website. Originally, I was determined to find another adjustable type tree stand, but since all similar products currently marketed were made mainly of plastic - and since the fail in 2013 had been so spectacular (I lost A LOT of cherished ornaments, not to mention dinnerware and glassware), I decided that stability was vastly more important than adjustability and ease of use. We would just have to do things the old-fashioned way. Now, this particular stand is rated for a 14 foot live tree. That's a pretty big and pretty heavy tree. Then you add all the lights, ornaments, beads, garland, etc. Our trees generally don't go over 6 1/2 feet tall (I only have 8 foot ceilings), but I was determined to get something truly sturdy. This stand has a wide span (28 inches), a large, heavy water receptacle, and sturdy screws. And did I say it's heavy? Yes, it is. Add a couple of gallons of water to the receptacle and its a hefty piece of equipment. On top of that, it can take up to a 8 1/2 inch tree trunk - most of the other stands out there don't go over 5 1/2 inches. Even those rated for up to 12 feet can only accommodate a tree with a skinny trunk. It was easy to assemble (and disassemble); has two spikes in the bottom of the receptacle to help stabilize the tree (best to drop it in from a few inches up so the spikes engage into the bottom of the trunk). Use a screwdriver shaft through the bolt ends to make turning the screws easier. As the pictures show, we placed the tree and stand in a large (32") clothes washer stand to protect the hardwood floors from any moisture from watering, and then covered that with our usual plain red tree skirt. Filling the receptacle with water was less of a hassle with this stand, as the opening is so much larger than the typical tree stands you see. You still have to get down to see that you don't overfill, but in general, I found it easier. After Christmas, we took down the tree, emptied the residual water out of the stand, wiped it clean and dry and disassembled it. Unless you have a lot of storage options, you don't want to leave this assembled; it's simply too wide. But the stability it provided for us makes this a very minor thing. Overall, we were impressed with the quality of the materials used and the sturdiness of the stand. If you purchase a live Christmas tree, this is the stand I would recommend to everyone. There's nothing more disheartening than having all your hard work and effort come crashing to the floor. January 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made One Xmas down, many more to come. Easy to assemble. Solid. Heavy. Just what I need for my 11-12 foot Xmas trees. April 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Better than plastic The stand is defiantly more sturdy than other plastic models. However, I wish the design considered storage. If the stands was left assembled, it would not store very easily. Especially if you are in a townhome like I am. The nuts and bolts have to be removed from the legs to remove the legs. So, you have to get out the tool box and remove the hardware to break it down. Wing nuts would have been a better option for this product. Other than the extra two minutes I spent breaking the stand down, I have no complaints. January 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The ultimate tree stand This stand held our 9+ foot tree as solid as a rock the base of the tree was over sized as it was a Noble fir so it wouldn't fit in the old stand and I am glad it didn't with the tree which had about a 6" diameter trunk this stand held 11/2 gallons of water so even if you forgot to water one day the tree was fine.My only problem was it was a little difficult to get the tree straight but that was less the stand and more the tree weighing about 150 pounds. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best tall tree stand I was able to find. Last year and the year before our tall Christmas trees both tipped over which excited everybody and it was a lot of work getting them back up and redecorated. We had to run fishing line from the tops of the trees to various window frames in the room. This year the tree was even bigger and the tree stand did the job. It is very impressive. January 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what we were looking for This stand replaced our old plastic tree stand, which had a cracked base that screwed onto the tree and was then put in an adjustable base. Our tree this year was 8.5 feet, smaller than previous years. After 20 minutes of trying to adjust the tree, we couldn't keep it from falling over. I ordered the Iron Mountain stand and it was delivered in two days. We assembled the new stand, put the tree in it, and it was in position and straight in about 3 minutes. This is a very well made stand and will be bequeathed to our children! December 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tree stand I bought this tree stand because it was the closest stand to one I had for 15 years. The old stand had one design flaw, the center spike broke. I don't see that happening with this stand. I holds more water and easily fit a tree with a 7 inch diameter base. Good design! January 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best tree stand ever! Don't think we'll be buying another tree stand for the rest of our life. This thing is built solid. January 6, 2015
