Rated 5 out of 5Â by Jason31 Finally a secure seat
This is a great product, my last toilet seat was coming loose and tightening the bolts would not help. The bolts on this seat have barbs that stick out to fill the gap around the bolt to eliminate shifting. The nuts have a built in torque limiter to ensure proper tightness. Now my seat is very well secured and shows no signs of ever loosening. The soft close works great and the seat cover is very sturdy, not a thin plastic like other seats with soft close.
The seat can be quickly removed, for cleaning, by just opening the bolt cover.
The torque limited bolts snap off when the proper torque is reached, but the remaining bolt retains the same hex shape so they can be removed completely when the entire seat needs to be replaced in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DavidR The best toilet seat $ can buy!
This is by far the best toilet seat that I have had the pleasure of sitting upon. It's sturdy, comfortable, and was a breeze to install. It took longer to get my old seat off than to install this new one, about 15 mins total effort for removal and installation. And the snap away bolts were great...just tighten until they snap off and you're seat is secure and won't ever come lose. Although I highly recommend a socket wrench to get the job done quickly and easily.
I love that the lid is solid and has some good weight to it. It's not made out of cheap feeling plastic and it's the weight that allows it to close despite the very tight slow-close hinge. Also, when I want to give my toilet a good cleaning, all I have to do is snap open the caps on the bolt covers and the seat lifts right off!

Removing the old seat was the toughest part of this project.
Be warned, the instructions that come with the toilet seat are pretty poor. Just a little folded slip of paper in the bolt bag and the rest is up to logic.
Installation was really smooth. I was afraid to pop the seat off for fear of breaking it because there were no instructions as to the best/safest way to do it. So, on a wing and a prayer, I gently popped the seat off.
So I'm fully amazed. Cleaning this will be a breeze. You just pop the hinge caps up and the seat comes right off. I love the slow close feature the best. It absolutely closes, slowly and quietly.
Another feature/benefit that isn't even mentioned in any documentation is how solid and sturdy this seat is once installed. It sits a bit higher than the old one too, which is more comfortable for tall people with physical issues. I like this seat so much, I plan to purchase one for our upstairs bathroom as well.
I highly recommend this Bemis Sta-tite Slow Close Seat!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by mophead Heavy, lacks quality control
This seat is heavier than the contoured plastic type, comfy, and easily installed. A unique installation feature is the mounting nuts that are screwed onto the bolts. Each nut has a twist off torque limiting feature, whereby as you tighten the nut onto the bolt, a part of the nut twists off, indicating a proper torque.
A quality control issue with the seat I received is that the alignment of the lid to the seat does not match, leaving a visual anomaly more than a functional one. The seat closes slowly, and the lid closes slowly, as designed.
I installed this seat on a Toto toilet with no issue.
I'll give this four stars and a "quality" con due to the slight misalignment of the seat and lid.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PaulCoMat A praiseworthy toilet seat
Never thought I would praise a toilet seat but the Bemis Slow Close Sta-Tite Elongated Toilet seat is praiseworthy. Well designed and easy to install. It truly does close slow and you cannot slam it shut. Even when opening it will not slam against the tank, it slow opens also just past vertical. Directions are clear though a little small for my old eyes. The entire seat and lid easily lifts off and goes back on for easy cleaning. I especially like the mounting bolt design. The nuts are about 2 1/4 inch long and covers the bolt completely so you will not nick the threads getting it on. It is a double nut design. You don't need a deep socket, a standard ½" socket wrench works perfectly and you do not have to reach way under because it is so long. The end nut breaks off cleanly when you reach the right torque but still leaves a 1 3/4 inch long nut to re-tighten or remove with and again it fits a standard socket. Sorry for poor quality photo, it was very difficult twisting around to take the photo. AND it truly aligns and stays where you tighten it and without twist or wobble in use and is very comfortable. The length of the seat is perfect. All of my previous seats were on the short side so when a man would pick up the seat their fingers rub the rim but not this Bemis seat. It is about 1/4 inch longer than the toilet rim and clears the rim easily plus it is rounded along the bottom for more finger room. I have never owned such a perfect toilet seat and will always buy this seat in the future. Only time will tell if the slow close hinges last. Will review again in a year or earlier if it fails.
