Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cjsmith A good, durable surround!
We used the ASB 37880 SturdiFit Tub Wall from Home Depot to replace ancient tilework on a 1" plaster wall. It's added thickness especially shows in the rigid shelves. Thinner gauge units we considered couldn't duplicate the same robust quality. The thicker SturdiFit required a little more effort to install on our uneven walls but resulted in a superior installation.
My wife and I are very happy with it's solid feel and attractive appearance. We were able to attach grab bars without issues. The six shelves provide more than adequate space and are easy to wipe down. We expect we will get years of durable service from it.

This is a great way to upgrade the look of your bathroom. The old tub surround I had in my rental property was becoming brittle and different sections were starting to crack. In addition the whole thing was turning an off white/yellowish color from age. This new tub surround has a brilliant white shine that makes your bathroom look brand new. In addition, the material is very thick so I won't have to worry about it turning brittle and cracking for a long time. Lastly, it was pretty easy to install! Great product! The price is great for the new and fresh look it gives your bathroom.

This ASB sturdifit five piece panel was perfect! Its thick which was a plus because being tired, I tend to bump the edges at times during dry fitting and I am sure that if it were thinner it could have easily cracked or snapped but it didn't. With 6 shelves it was more than enough to hold all our shampoo bottles etc. The finish looked elegant and was very easy to clean. I started my installation of the wall panel with the middle wall, applied two tubes of powergrab on the wall (after making pencil marks for elevation and width so as to have a perfect overlap on the flaps for the two corner panels). I also purchased a jigsaw with the blade included and was perfect for trimming the sides and the holes for my shower fittings. Make sure you have a decent work table with clamps as this proved to help keep the panels from moving during cutting. I did not take measurements on a cardboard template and transferred it to the side panel but instead set it against the shower fittings and made my mark from there. It proved to be more accurate and easier to do. I finished the whole project in 6 days feeling accomplished and happy with the investment. I have been getting compliments from our friends on how professionally built I looked! I am not so handy but I try to be and had a lot of guts to do it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tony Good solid solution at a great price
We had to do an emergency remodel when the tile surround in our rental house came down. Don't make the mistake of trying anything less rigid. These panels are 1/8" to 1/4" thick, heavy and strong. It was immediately available in stores, and it costs only a small bit more than the paper thin ones.
The SturdiFit went up well using tile glue - the more glue the better. It took some trimming on the last 2 pieces to square things up but not a big deal if you have the right tools. After trimming it went together good and tight. Caulking was a snap and everything appears to be leak proof.
I lost a lot of time trying to save the existing drywall by peeling the old tiles off and scraping the glue, etc. In retrospect I would have removed all of it and replaced with green board. This would have saved me 6-8 hours of work.
I added a row of tile over the top to cover areas where previous tiles were. With that, it looks good, solid and professional. Admittedly I don't know how it will perform over the long run, but right now I would recommend it to anyone. I have very little experience at this kind of work and it was not a struggle. I did it all myself. Click on the picture. The camera lense distorted the image, but I assure you it looks straight and square.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RHMichael Great Unit, We Highly Recommend It
My wife and I purchased the SturdiFit for our master bathroom. We liked the thickness of the panels. We first had to replace the backer board, using Durock cement board, since the old wall was ceramic tile that had not been cared for in about 50 years and much of the drywall was no longer dry. We used Liquid Nails Tub Surround & Shower Wall Adhesive and DAP 3.0 Sealant. Fortunately we had two friends help us out with the surround installation, one of whom had previous tub surround installation experience.
We highly recommend this unit, but suggest using the DAP 3.0 Sealant and not the 100% Silicone caulk, which the product carton says to use. In fact, we are hoping to purchase a few extra panels to further waterproof the walls around and above the surround.
The instructions were not exactly complete as they did not address all of our issues. We had to go to the website for additional information. But all in all, we really like the product and highly recommend it to others.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mr88talent tub and surround turned out nice
I went to the store and asked for help getting this surround down from a shelf up above and the employee told me he did not recommend I get this because these types of surrounds leak. I ignored him because whether it leaks or not is totally dependent on how well it is sealed when it is installed. I used 13 tubes of Loctite Tub Surround adhesive - three on each flat panel and two on each corner panel. I also used more than one tube of GE Paintable Silicone along the edges of the panels (on the back of the panels where they meet the tub or each other). I used more than one tube of GE Groov (Red) to caulk the seams on the outer edges of the panels and moldings. I used some PVC molding to surround the tub. The GE Groov and GE Paintable Silicone are very messy to work with (sticky and gummy) but I think they create a superior seal. I spent a couple hours carefully masking every seam where caulk would go in order to get nice clean caulk seams. I also caulked the inside and outside of the moldings. I replaced the tub at this time with the Boots Aloha tub and also replaced the drywall. My walls are not level or square, but the design of this surround enabled me to work around these issues. I spent nearly a week on the entire project, but job turned out really great.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chris 100% silicon caulk won't stick.
It was easy to install and looks great, but days later silicon caulk is no longer sticking so it not waterproof. Instructions say 100% silicon caulk, but it didn't stick. What works????

This is not your typical 5 piece surround. It is much thicker and can help cover some minor wall imperfections. It goes up easy and has good instructions. I was thinking about using a 3 piece but after I found this one I changed my mind. It also can cover out to 32 inches which was great for me because we installed a 32" tub, most other surrounds only cover 30".
