I had such great hopes for this product. I thought that it would allow me to flick leaves and pine needles out of a first floor gutter. Getting the angle right to do the job is nearly impossible and even if this tool can get in the gutter at the right angle, then flicking the gunk out just doesn't happen. Home Depot accepted the opened and used item and the corresponding telescoping pole without question and that process was easy. . . too bad using the product wasn't just as easy.

I have purchased 2 of these. The first one broke in the middle of doing my gutters last year the first day I used it.....figured it was a fluke. Ordered another one, returned the broken one. New one broke today, first time using it. Piece of garbage.

I like this gutter paddle to clean the gutter of debris. The ONLY thing I think they should do is make the rotating part of the handle out of metal too because my first gutter paddle broke because i GUESS I was being too aggressive?
It's a great invention.

The scooper is almost flat, so you can't get a great 'scoop' action, particularly if the gutter is above your head. I used the attachment on a telescoping pole that was very flimsy, making it even harder to use.
After working with it for 30 minutes on a 10-foot section of gutter, I really was not confident that my gutter was cleared.

I bought this product on the advice of a Seasonal Department associate as a possible solution to two problems I have. One, my gutters were clogged. Two, I am afraid of heights.
I got the Gutter Paddle & an 8' pole to go with it. It took me a few minutes of fiddling to get the right technique, but sure enough it actually works! I found that I have to hold the pole at about a 30 degree angle and use a bit of a flicking motion to one side to get the leaves out of the gutter. I cleaned all my gutters, about 40' worth of 2 years accumulation of wet mush, in about an hour without stepping up a ladder.
As an added plus, I didn't get all that muck on my hands! On the downside, the flipping motion does tend send the gunk flying, so a bit of sweeping and / or raking is necessary to finish the job.
This is a must have for someone afraid of heights!
Also, previously I paid the neighbours' kid $40 to clean the gutters. The guard & 8' pole only cost $30, so I'm already saving serious cash!

8 in. Gutter Paddle works how you think it will work however it would take quite a while to clean gutters with it. I opted for another solution that uses a 12hp vacuum that was quick and easy.
