Answer:
This is a good, basic scanner for the money. As such, it is analog only. Will not receive digital signals or trunked transmissions. Bearcat makes such scanners, but they are considerably more expensive.

Answer:
This model is analog & does not support trunked frequencies. It would be suggested to research your area further on what systems & system types they use in your area & then search for a model that would support those systems in your area.

Answer:
Scanners pick up two-way radio transmissions and/or paging system transmissions, from CB radios to police/fire/EMS to aircraft & NASCAR transmissions. Scanners scan particular radio bands and lock in on transmissions on whatever frequencies the user programs into the scanner. The BC355N is a good value for a first-time scanner. It has lots of channels available for programming frequencies.

Answer:
It would depend on if they use analog frequencies in your area. It would be suggested to research your area to see what type of systems & system types they use in your area. You can then look for a model scanner that would support the systems & frequencies in your area.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little scanner Very fast and easy hook up and easy to program. Went on a road trip and scanned other police and fire departments in other state loved this feature August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent, Basic Scanner Home install with the AC adapter was simple & easy right out of the box. Hardest part was programming frequencies. Watched some online videos that helped immensely with programming. Recommend watching them. Google "programming the BC355N Scanner." Watching the videos makes the programming process much easier, as trying to follow the manual may get frustrating. Once the process is understood, programming is simple, but tedious. Installed my BC355N in my truck with connection to an external antenna. This works best for optimum reception. The glass mount flexible antenna is mediocre at best. Recommend an external speaker for best audio. Internal speaker is tinny and limited volume. Only feature missing is a priority function. Would have rated excellent if it had priority. "Close Call" feature is similar but not as effective if you want to monitor a particular frequency. 3 months along and have had no problems with the product. All in all a good value for the money. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bought this for my Dad for Fathers Day We looked up our frequencies and input these into the scanner, not hard but tedious. Dad had an old Bearcat scanner and absolutely loves this scanner. I would recommend this scanner to anyone looking to save space. July 8, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by decent scanner Not all the bells and whistles but good for the price you pay. I was a bit dissapointing in the sound quality as it sounds a bit tinny to me. January 20, 2015
