Customer Questions & Answers

SD Card - Maximum Size for unit and the number of recording hours

I have a vandalism problem and want to record both the front and back of my house. What is the maximum number of hours that can be recorded on the unit? Does it come with an SD card? What is the largest SD Card that can be used? Is it a SD Micro card? I would really like to be able to record several days before data is overwritten. If I am able to record the vandal, I will want to make a copy of the video for the authorities or print stills. Is it possible with this unit? Thank you for your assistance!
Asked by: Tori

Is there a wireless surveillance system that could be run into a VCR to make a VCR tape?

My son's car has been vandalized twice in our home driveway and my tire was punctured in last vandalism and the cost to repair was over $400 so we are willing to put this amount into a system to record who is doing this. We had one camera screwed into the eve over the garage door, but vandal pulled it out and went with it.
Asked by: Christian7
With this model it actually records to an SD card that is located inside the monitor. You can set the cameras to record on motion detection or set a record schedule of your desired times. The monitor also has an AV output jack that could be connected to a VCR in order to record with the VCR.

Guardian Wireless 4.3 in. Indoor and Outdoor Portable Video Surveillance System with 2 Weatherproof Cameras is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Item works great for a low budget system I purchased this item about a month ago and it has worked well. Set up was a breeze, but you will need an electrical source nearby. The supplied power cord is about 6-7 feet in length and I mounted both cameras under the eve of my garage to cover the front and side of my patio home. All I had to do is drill a 1/2 inch hole and run the cable up and into the garage attic. The cameras are about 80-90 feet away from the base an reception is full bars. The motion detector for camera activation is sensitive to the movement of bushes/trees and I have it set to the least sensitive setting. The picture is jumpy on the higher resolution setting, but looks normal on the lower setting, which setting up the system the way you want in easy if you read the manual...or not..its that easy. Only draw back to the system is it only records on one camera at a time. I have bought another duplicate item and will sync those cameras with my original unit, plus now I have an extra monitor...going to try to sync all four cameras to that one also..don't know if that will work. But overall, for less than $200, we now have piece of mind.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible Technical Support! Purchased this product and installed it fairly easily. Good picture quality however we are having some issues with the motion recording. I have tried calling their tech. support line for three days. Each time I called I was told I would be placed on hold for over an hour. Today I just sat on hold waiting it out. Finally someone answered. He took my info, asked what problem was and put me ON HOLD FOR ANOTHER 15 MINS! When he got back on he said he was "discussing my issue" and had to transfer me to a senior tech. I told him it better not be another long hold, he assured me it would not. Guess what? He lied. I was transferred and have been sitting on hold for a senior tech for a half hour now. It's a disgrace. We may take this product back to the store simply because they clearly do not support it well enough. Save yourself the headache and buy another product...not this one!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked well for about 2 years; repair cost is half the price of a new unit I loved this item when I first set it up and it worked great for about two years. Then one day the playback button died - I can push all the other buttons, but the playback button is hard as a rock. So I went to the Uniden site to find out about repairing it. The cost is $85 plus $10 shipping and handling. A new unit is about $150 and you get two additional cameras for that. I guess they really don't want the repairs. I'll definitely replace the unit - and may get another so I can use my existing cameras, but REALLY disappointed in this manufacturer's policies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from over all a good system The system was very easy to install and the picture on the view screen was good , The cameras were very sensitive to motion and I had to set them at the lowest level other than that a good system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall product has good features for day time recording I strongly recommend this product for recording during the day time. I mostly needed the night vision and zoom features. These features were terrible. I could not make out the objects with the night vision. The recording at night was blurred and fuzzy. The zoom feature made it harder to see.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product is economical and simple to operate. We are pretty pleased with the cost and operation of the system. It has a clear picture and good sound. It is pretty sensitive to sound. This is what we were looking for. When ordering the man answering my questions did not seem to want to go any further than just a quick answer. He didn't want to seem to elaborate further or offer any suggestions. Overall the experience was good. We have done business with Home Depot for many years and we have always been happy with the service and products.
