Customer Questions & Answers

My window is 36 x 36 and I need bars that can be installed inside, however I need them to be released in the event of a fire.

Asked by: Sonjatonja
Foot-operated release kits can be used with this guard as advised by local fire codes.

Can these be altered to accommodate a custom width?

Thinking of using these as a barrier on our screened porch - not for security, but to keep the screen from being pushed out (ambitious cats). The porch supports are unevenly spaced and won't accommodate your standard size guards. Wondering if a) they can be cut to fit and b) if the flush-mount brackets have to be inserted fully, or if there's a little leeway to leave them pulled out from the guard somewhat (no more than halfway) to take up slack.

Thank you for your interest in our Su Casa Window guard. We would suggest viewing our installation guide under the Info & Guides section of Homedepot.com for more help with this question. We do not suggest altering the window guard. I hope this information is helpful for you.

Where do I get the mounting brackets?

Asked by: akajim
Thank you for your interest in our Su Casa Window Guards. We have several types of mounting brackets depending on your particular application. They can be purchased online on homedepot.com by searching for window guards in the search bar and checking the “Unique Home Designs” brand name on the left side of the screen. This will show all of our Window Guard products. They can also be purchased via special order at most Home Depot store locations. I hope this information is helpful for you. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm so pleased with this purchase! I wanted to add some security to some windows that were located in a pretty isolated area. Bars were the best option. I found these on the Home Depot site. Their competition didn't have anything even close. These look great! I'm so happy with them. They will work beautifully and although someone said it will make my house look like a prison, I actually think they spruced up that side of the house. Easy to install...just make sure that if you don't own a 'one way driver' that you get one from the local hardware store. Only about $10. I'll be getting sets for a few more windows. The online instructions for installation and measurements were very helpful. Took the guess work out of what sizes to order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They look great and fit great. They look nice. They don't have that jail cell apperance. Installing them with the security screw socket was simple. They are everything as described and more. Shipping was right on schedule.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Guardless Window Bars The old saying goes "You get what you pay for" these window bars were very easy to install, but I wouldn't hold my breath on expecting them to stop or deter a determined burglar. Their MADE IN CHINA, what does that tell you? The bars are hollow square tubing, I wrapped a cloth tape measure around one of them and it measured 2 1/4 ". The mounting brackets, (sold separately) are also made of the same hollow tubing. I could easily use a pair of bolt cutters and go right through these bars or even a heavy pry bar will work. They might work better on a second story window, but if I lived in a high crime area I would definitely install SOLID WINDOW BARS, not these. Lucky for me I have an ADT monitored security system plus indoor-outdoor security cameras. I do not live in a high crime area, but being in Law Enforcement for 29 years, I've seen it all, so trust my review. Go buy solid window bars or at least heavier gauge tubing, depending on the size of your windows solid tubing might be to heavy so opt for heavier gauge material. P.S. tried to upload a picture of the installed window guard, but the Home Depot website wasn't operating properly, I waited 20 minutes and the picture was still uploading after two attempts. Figures....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For the price the product is exactly what I wanted The window bars will not stop a determined thief with a crowbar and/or metal saw but will provide a good degree of protection vs. just the window alone. For the price, the quality and protection afforded suit me perfectly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value I needed these bars to keep out vandals at my apartment complex. The installation was a breeze. I used regular bolts instead of the one-way bolts that were included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like the scroll decorative look of the bars. I purchased the bars because they came in white. Needed security bars that were attractive and these did the job. They were easy to install as well.
