do the diamond shape holes offer more visibility through the door than the circle holes?

Asked by: Susan
Thank you for your interest in our Arcada Security Door. The Arcada door has an expanded metal screen with slightly larger openings than the perforated metal screen. The expanded metal holes are diamond-shaped while the perforated metal screen has circle-shaped spaces. Customer Reviews

36 in. x 80 in. Arcada Black Surface Mount Outswing Steel Security Door with Expanded Metal Screen is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Installed this door today. Had a friend ask me to install this door on one of his rental properties. I have installed many types of doors from wood, metal, storm, and screened. I watched the video before buying the door for some installation tips. The door is basically a heavy duty screen door. No glass or small screen like on a regular screen door. Very heavy. Does not come with a bottom sweep, closer or top seal, but you can purchase separately. Installation was not difficult other than trying to balance the door on a 2x4 at the bottom in order to level and plumb the door. Used some 2 1/2" deck screws with flat washers to temporarily hold the door in place while making sure it was plumb and square. Then after I had everything square I took each deck screw out individually and drilled pilot hole and installed the one way screws. There was no cutting involved in order to install. That was a plus. Like others have said once I had the door square and plumb on all sides, it bowed out at the very bottom causing the lockset not to latch unless I push the door closed forcefully. I never could get it to close just right. It closed ok, but not as good as it should. Also, once you install the one way screws there is no turning back. There is no way to adjust anything on the door once those screws have been set. Overall, it is a heavy duty expanded mesh steel door and fairly easy to install. I recommend watching the video prior to installation. The written instructions made no sense to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase The door was little hard to put up due to the door frame o f the building but once it was up it made my door look very nice to look at. The look and appearance of it and the fact that is heavy duty has made the management give me praise for it. I put a brushed steel french door knob and a dead bolt and it made the door look even better and the way that decorative pieces that are on it made the look even better. and differ than other door on the property I would highly recommend any on that want a in expensive door to buy this despite all the other review of i t rusting,i kind of doubt that would happen seeing how i live in Pal palm Springs and the heat that that will happen to mine

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking door but a little tricky to install Like some of the others on the site, we had a problem with the door shutting properly after the hardware was installed. Seems to be a design issue as the outer edge of the door, when closed, is over far enough to hit the screws that hold in the frame. The screws aren't flush with the frame, so the door didn't quite close. After trying several things, we routed out the opening where the doorknob catches (not sure what that's called). Otherwise, it's a nice sold door with an updated design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Paint before installing! We live in the drought area of California and after 5 months this security door has rusted. I called the manufacturer and they said rust was not covered. So.... I suggest you paint it with a rust preventer before installing!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not 36"! Actually 38.5" TAKE NOTE! This door's assembled width is 38.5", NOT 36" and nowhere on the product packaging does it say that either. I read on the product packaging that this door was 36" and I knew that our full door opening was 37.5" across and so I figured we could shim the gaps easily enough. What I didn't know was that this door is actually 38.5" assembled and you can't very well shave off a full inch from the door or our block house, so we had to take it back. Sad about that too, because the door looked very nice and seemed solid, but if it's a full inch too big then that's a major problem. Why don't they say the assembled width anywhere on the product packaging?? MAJOR DISCLOSURE FAIL... Oh, and don't bother going to their website for help. There is no number listed anywhere to call for assistance and their 'frequently asked questions' feature is coming soon! Fail...
