DO NOT BUY!!!!!! This is the worst door I have ever installed. The lock is horrible. Expensive junk Don't waste your time or money very poor design and craftsmanship. I am a carpenter and I have installed lots of entry and storm doors, and this one was by far the worst ever.

This door isn't worth a quarter of its cost. Switch it from left to right hinge? Nothing lines up! Nothing. Switch screen and glass to reverse hinge side...got to drill all new holes. Nice. Before becoming an accountant I was, among other things, a sheet metal mechanic and a machinist in the aerospace industry. I can fix almost anything but this door is almost beyond doing it correctly. I've wasted several hours today trying to correct it's flaws. It's going back. I own rental homes and have for decades and I do absolutely everything (except carpet) and this door has gotten under my skin more than anything in recent memory. So simple to build a jig...everything nice and precise. However, the workmanship on this is rotten. Also, one side of the glass can't be cleaned and I wouldn't characterize this door as security anything. Am very disappointed in Home Depot for carrying this product...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kari Absolutely Beautiful Metal Screen Door
This is an absolutely beautiful high quality screen door. The copper color is stunning and matches our brand new front door. I was hard to find a "non-ghetto" security screen door. Although this is not really a security door, as it is just a standard screen inside a steel screen door....but this was exacty what I wanted . I love the function of the sliding glass. I did have one BIG issue with the door hardware. The hardware that slides inside the door is not recessed enough and therefore the door will not close. Instead of called Home Depot, I called Unique Home Designs directly. They were aware of this issues on some of the older doors, but the newer doors had all been upgraded and fixed. Apparently I got an older door. They offered to fix and/or replace the door if neccessary. Now that is customer service!

I purchased this product March 5,2015. If the issue is fixed why are the defected products still being sold in-store??? I've only had this door a week and it's been a nightmare.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SDG Lovely door, Very, Very bad locking system (I'm now on my 3rd lock)
I love the look of this door. I'm incredibly disappointed with the locking system. I've replaced the lock twice and am getting ready to order my third lock. If I get the lock directly from Home Depot, they say they will charge me the $70 to replace it (even though I purchase the door from Home Depot). I must order directly from the manufacturer). What a disappointments. I thought I had just received a defective lock, but at this point, it is clear that the design is a poor one. This last time, I literally had to remove the whole screen door from the frame in order to undo the lock. I'm selling the house and at this point, I either order a new lock (and pay $70) or remove the whole screen door. I would avoid purchasing this door and go for a door with a universal type lock system. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nick Poorly put together
The door is very nice looking, affordable, and universal.
The craftsmanship is terrible. The universal aspect of it gets lost as they use self tapping screws when they put it together, which means that when you flip the windows around nothing lines up correctly.
Also, as many other people have listed, the door handle is complete junk. Taking it apart the problem is they use a piece made of way too soft of metal which cannot support the torque stress of the handle. It ends up bending and the handle is rendered useless. Simply using better steel would fix this issue without redesign (though redesign would be better).
Additionally the door handle set seems to be a very odd size, so replacing it is very difficult and there seems to be no contact info for the company on their website.
It is pretty and a person like me can manage since I can weld and completely redesign the handle mechanism myself, but for the average person I absolutely would not recommend.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HighDesert So disappointed, returning.
This is a beautiful looking door, very sturdy, five stong hinges, appears well made, and looks terrific over the entry door. But, we had to return it due to incredibly poor design...
It was difficult for the installer to install, he had to make two trips. And then it didn't operate correctl. The top glass wouldn't slide down or up without a LOT of pressure (it took my whole weight practically), the latch for the top window didn't easily line up for latching, and this door's window frame is so think it hit the entry door hardware - maybe some of those could have been solved with install correction, BUT NOT THIS:
There is no way to realistically clean the top glass! It is behind the screen and neither are removable. When Home Depot contacted Unique Home Design they suggested a no wipe glass cleaner "Windex Outdoor", but that products instructions say to use a squeegie in hard water conditions. No good for us and much of the country! Home Depot was helpful in finding an alternative product "Krud Kutter". Both of these require using a hose to apply the cleaner in three step process, rinse, suds, rinse..... There was NO information with the door about how to clean it, what to use, etc. Evidently, the company (in conversation) was just figuring out this was a design issue!
Figuring I'd test clean just using water I sprayed water on the door with it closed. Water gushed through and filled the stoop, splashing on the entry door. The cleaning products advise they are not good for wood or painted surfaces! Next I opened the door and poured water, gushed through again. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if I were using a hose and how we'd keep cleaning product off the entry door and out of the house while cleaning. Water fills the bottom of the frame and continues to drain out as the door is opened and closed. This is NOT a solution to the poor design.
Home Depot has agreed to credit me half of the installation and uninstall charges. But we'll end up paying for another installation of a different door. Bad, bad. Unique Home Design (door manufacturer) really should step up.
Do not buy this door unless you're willing to put up with its janky design.

I had the same issue with the handle and lock. It got progressively worse until it didn't work at all and I was locked in the house. If a door doesn't open I don't care how nice it looks. Its worthless.
