Can you install two dead bolts so a key is needed for each side?

Thank you for your interest in our Estate Security Door. Yes, you can use a double cylinder deadbolt which would allow you to have a key on both sides. I hope this information is helpful for you.

Is the security screen rust resistant?
Asked by: shirl
Thank you for your interest in our Estate Security Door. The door along with the screen are both powder coated which inhibits but does not prevent rust. I hope this information is helpful for you.

Because of the placement of the deadbolt/door-knob they interfered with the entry door. The installer had to shim the door frame to get it to lock and couldn't install a standard door knob. I was left to my own devices to install a door knob. I'm fortunate that I have tools and resources and was able to modify a door knob set to make it fit. If you are thinking about getting this door make sure there is enough clearance between your entry door and where the new door will be to fit a lock set. I had a "measure" done by HomeDepot's contractor and they apparently did not measure for this particular issue.

Some of the "pre-drilled" holes (the ones for changing the door swing direction) were absent, so I had to drill them myself. The bottom "sweep" part of the door is very flimsy and was badly bent also. Works OK.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Door BUT needed extra tools to install DOOR CLOSER My handy neighbor and I worked about three hours to install this door. The original door was removed prior, so we knew this door would fit in the space. The video gave me confidence we could install it. Everything went according to instructions until we got to the DOOR CLOSER. Most comments above noted it doesn't fit at top of door, but instructions ALSO SAY USE MIDDLE OF DOOR. It fits just fine even with the glass inserts. HOWEVER the middle part of the door is reinforced metal and it was VERY difficult to drill holes into that metal. We broke one drill bit (a reinforced one!) and dulled a second one but got the thing on. YAY. UPDATE: After having the door installed for a month, the door closer (which others have disparaged online as being of low quality) completely stopped its pneumatic function and tried to slam shut immediately on our heels. VERY uncomfortable. I adjusted it using the screw on the end, and it didn't work very well even then. Kept getting worse. When i removed it today, the pneumatic sealed disc of metal inside was just rattling back and forth when i moved the closer. I bought the best one available at the home improvement store ($18 Wrights). It has the exact same size and installation hardware, so all i did was pop the pins on this door's closer, and replace the closer with the new one. IF YOU BUY THIS DOOR, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME USING THE INCLUDED CLOSER: BUY A $20 REPLACEMENT AND INSTALL IMMEDIATELY. TOSS THE ORIGINAL. The door is WONDERFUL -- the closer, not so much.

I was out working in the front of my house when I heard something break. I go to the back yard and see that the door had just shattered. My back door is secluded from everything, that's why I got this door. I've had it less than a year, and it's already broken. For $300, I expected much higher quality. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOOR.

I have a German Sheppard and wanted the peace of mind that he could see outside without being able to go through the door. It is very well made & not to difficult to install. Its solid and looks great. I bought one for my mother after she seen it she wanted one. I installed hers when it came in. It was easier then mine except for the bug sweep cracked as I was sawing it to fit. I called the company that makes the doors to buy a replacement, the guy told me he would see if they had any & would call back if thy didn't. He took my info & within 2 weeks I received it with no charge. Costumer service is also great. I would recommend this company's doors to anyone.

Decorative flourishes are screwed onto the bars, not welded. Also, included closer is cheap, low quality. Installed door as instructed and operates as designed, purchased high quality handleset. All of that care and expense negated by this cheap, noisy closer. Now will have to go out and purchase another closer and hope the holes align so I don't have to drill more holes in my door.

The first door we bought, brought it home, opened the box and there was significant damage to the door, though there was no apparent damage to the box it came in. This suggests to me that it was damaged at the factory prior to packaging and shipping, with the thought, "stick it in the box, ship it overseas and let those rich Americans deal with it."
