Customer Questions & Answers

Do I need to buy these items separtely and if so can you recommend what to purchase. I listed them under details.

1- does it come with a door handle with a lock? Or can you recommend a lock set, knob, deadbolt? 2- What type of seal kit is recommended? How would this benefit to have this? 3- What type of closure is recommended? How would this benefit to have this? Do I need to order anything extra? I will be having home depot install this for me, and they are making a visit to measure my door.
Asked by: patty
Thank you for your interest in our Meridian Security door. The Meridian does not come with a lock set. It will take a standard lock set of any brand. The door seal kit for the Meridian can be viewed on homedepot.com using Internet # 202098364. The benefit of the door seal kit is that it seals the gap between the bottom of the security door and the entry threshold. It is designed for homes with elevated thresholds. The closer for this door can be viewed on Homedepot.com using Internet # 203080278. The benefit of the closer is that it allows the door to close gently and prevents slamming. Hardware needed to install the door is included in the package. I hope this information is helpful.

Is the screen soft or will it withstand a dog jumping on it or someone a knife trying to cut it?

Asked by: julie
Thank you for your interest in our Meridian Security Door. The Meridian has a fine grid steel mesh screen and while it is stronger than a typical polyester insect screen, it may not be strong enough to withstand a dog repeatedly jumping on it. You may want to consider one of our other security doors such as the Arcada (internet sku#203484994) which has an expanded metal screen or our ArcadaMax (internet sku#205110477) which has a perforated metal screen. I hope this information is helpful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall happy with this door Attractive door (purchased copper color to match my window frames, light fixtures, etc). Handyman installed in about an hour including lockset. This is an original installation, not replacement. Only mild complaint is my last house had a door that had smaller holes and you couldn't see through it from outside. I could have answered the door in my underwear. This one doesn't provide visual privacy, but that wasn't my main concern anyway. Good value, really happy to find "copper" color - really more of a dark brown bronze. Not everyone makes this color. Powder coat seems sturdy. It's been up a year already and no issues except needing to use a little no-squeak spray on hinges occasionally.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Issue with design and door not closing The included instructions are bad but the video was ok. I also had the same problem another poster did. Once installed, the door would not close completely as the one way screws on the non-hing side interfered with the door and it would not close all the way so the locks and door handle do not engage. Not sure what I am going to do with this as its a mess right now. Home Depot did respond to the other poster with the same issue, but I disagree on their response. The door is installed correctly. The one way screws are the same width as the side piece so even if I moved the side out, then the door would not align not meet with the side piece. Home Depot was wrong.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Design Ever After spending 3 hours trying to install a door that was worped at the lock/latch area, I finally gave up. The screw heads prevented the door from closing correctly and if you repositioned the jam it would no longer latch with the door handle. The directions said to be sure that the screws went into a stud which is impossible with the design since it alignes with the existing door jam. The studs are over an inch away. It need tabs welded to it to be able to screw into the studs. The door looks nice and was well built....too bad it wasn't designed properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARPED MIG WELDED DOOR- HD Response = Big Fail ! They Mig welded this door and spent a lot of time around the Lock Pocket area. This will cause warping if not clamped, should not do the lock box/pocket all at once. The response from Home Depot is a joke ! I already tried the 2x4 technique, if I weighed 400 lbs.. maybe. But the average person is not going to be able to bend that door a whole 1/4" . Not going to happen ! The door is really a whole 1/4" BOWED out right in the middle. We as customer's shouldn't have to put up with poorly manufactured junk from China. This door most likely cost the Home Depot $20 - 30 and $170 for them. Now I have to grind off the security heads and extract studs ! Wow just what I want to do for 2-3 hours.. This is BIG TIME messed up HD ! Thanks a Bunch !!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from i should of read the reviews. I had to shim it out at least 3/8 of in inch, just to get the screen door to latch. I think this product devalues a house, after its installed. Dont waste the money on this poor quality product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed and manufactured As noted by other purchasers, the door was warped and would not latch properly. The 2X4 technique for straightening is a joke for anyone weighing less than 400lbs. I bought the seal kit for this door so that we could leave the entry door open at night and use this door to keep critters out. Another joke! Even with their seal kit and additional weatherstripping all around the door, there are openings between the door and the seal kit large enough for rat to enter! Forget about it keeping out insects. Home Depot's response - if you are not happy with it, return it. To get it off the house I will have to grind the eight security bolts off and will end up with ugly holes they left in the door frame to deal with. After MANY hours cutting blocks, many different types of weatherstripping, and copious amounts of caulk, I am getting close to getting the door to close and seal as expected. My recommendation is to AVOID THIS PRODUCT!
