Is there a handle that comes on this door?

I dont see a handle and would want to make sure it has one. If so, what color does it come in? Thanks
Asked by: Eric
Yes. The handle is black, and pretty flimsy. It's not attached to the door, so you'll have to measure carefully and drill three holes. Don't use the plastic guide that comes with the kit. It's too shallow. Use the paper template. Good luck.

Is the bottom panel solid or mesh?
Asked by: Karyn
Thank you for your interest in our Riviera Hinged Screen Door. The bottom of the Riviera is a metal mesh which can act as a pet grille. I hope this information is helpful for you.

How to you install a dog door on this unit.

I see that a dog door can be installed onto this door. How is this done? Will the protective screen at the base of the door be cut or removed to allow for the installation of the dog door?
Asked by: TaskMonster
Buy a storm door for dog door installment. DO NOT try to add anything to this door... the puny hinge system can barely support the door.

I was looking for a matching replacement of my old screen and hoped that this one is the same model. It took me three trips to the store to get it but it's a separate story. The new screen is solid, an inch thick. It could be a good thing but as a result it is too heavy -- I am worried about my dogs when it swings on wind -- for God's sake I only need it to stop moscuitos! The mash covering its lower third makes loud rattling sound every time when somebody opens or closes the screen. Possible "adjustments" are limited to only slight width change and a gap filler at the bottom. Position of hinges is fixed and can't be adjusted. Installation became a big deal. I wouldn't buy it if I knew all this before having it delivered.

The screen door slides into a channel that has hinges and that is what you screw onto the door frame. We took it off to cut it , because it comes longer than the door. Then , it was very difficult to put back on, even with the both of us. Then, one of the screws stopped turning, and became "stuck" , for no reason. The screwdriver would not turn it. We had to scrap the entire door and get something else. This company does not sell replacement parts. If they just made the channel portion the same length as the door, you wouldn't have to take it off and cut it, and then put it back on. Waste of money for us.

When I went to my local H.D. to pick up a screen door the first problem I ran into was finding one with no existing damage. This first three I looked at has some form damage. I finally found a door that appeared to be in new condition. I purchased it. I had several problems during the install. First the screen door was not square but I managed to make it work. The door frame was square. The second problem was I had a white door and the screws provided were black, I have to believe this was a mistake by the manufacturer. The final problem was hydraulic door closer was DOA, non functional. I purchased a replacement door closer rather than returning the entire door which would have been a pain. If I had to do it over I would purchase a much better quality door.

They are sturdy enough and get the job done. Definitely good quality for the price. Installation wasn't bad, our only issue was that our door surround was very square, nothing to do with the door. It did begin to squeak after about a year, but some graphite spray fixed that. The lock is easy enough to use to keep a toddler from opening it. All in all, a good door.

We installed it ourselves, after our other door was really shot. Home Depot has a very POOR CHOICE of screens ready-to-buy. We were missing screws/hardware when we opened the new box that was a hassle. The black handle was already scratched (very minor) and most screen material now is vinyl (no longer metal). The door is a bit short for our frame and cheaply made as well (oh, Chinese qualilty control paper inside the box!). It was almost $100, and just 'bare bones' really. There is no 'lock' on the inside handle. The shock seems sturdy enough, but this is just a very basic 'cheap' product. I'm going to have to purchase a rubber 'duster' to add to the door bottom, because the bottom gap is so wide (we could not go up to 36")...that mice and other LARGE critters can easily crawl under if our wood door is open. Yuck! I'd pay more and get something that may be a little higher quality. Pass on 32" RIVERIA white screen door!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still having nightmares... Here I lay, two nights later and I am still beating myself up over the decision to waste my money on this product. Please, put your wallet away and step back from the computer. This door was a waste of $100 and 6 hours. Your frustration will start with the instructions, then escalate when the adjusting screws strip and you have to go back to the hardware store, then climax when you have to cut any adjustments to the frame. I'm not an expert, but I have good tools and I've installed several screen doors in the past. This morning I woke up and threw this door in the trash. Then I went to Lowes and bought the Comfort-Bilt Beach White Aluminum screen door. I would urge anyone else to do the same. For an extra $10, I ended up with a quality door that installed in about an hour.
