This security door was an excellent choice for my front and back entryway. It brought a sense of added security. I can now leave my front door open with the security door closed and enjoy the mild temperature of the spring flowing through my home without worrying of someone just wandering in. I can also answer the doorbell and see who is at my door and have the protection of the security door between me and a stranger. Thank you Home depot.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by AlanMintaka Instructional video has major error, hinge posts on outside of door can be easily dismantled
I have a few misgivings about this product based on what I saw in the instructional video. I've purchased many security screen doors in the past (6 to date, for rental property and my own home) and so have some idea what I'm talking about.
1. The video instructs the installer to place the deadbolt and handle holes on the same side as the knob and deadbolt on the inner door. This is not a good idea. When the screen door lockset is completely assembled, its knob and deadbolt can bump up against the inner door's lockset, making it impossible to close the screen door.
If you really want to install your screen door with the lockset hardware on the same side as the inner door, make certain that there is enough clearance between the locksets to close the security door BEFORE YOU INSTALL. The safest approach is to just put the security door lockset on the opposite side of the inner door lockset. So what if the doors open on opposite sides? At least you'll be guaranteed that you can close the security door without having to take measurements first.
2. In the video, the security door's hinges can easily be seen on the outside of the frame. This means that the hinge posts are exposed, and they can easily be tapped out of the hinges using a hammer and a thin finish nail. I know about this because I locked myself out of the house once. After looking at those hinges, I realized how easy it would be to remove the posts. It took me about a minute to extract the posts, making very little noise with gentle taps of the hammer on a finish nail. I was happy to get into the house, but not pleased that it was so easy for a rube like me.
The next time I bought a replacement door, I was carefull tp specify that the hinges were located inside fhe frame, protecting the hinge posts from access by intruders.
Exterior hinges like that on a security door are the results of a really poor design. Such a poor design casts doubts on the credibility and reliability of the manufacturer.
I now have to purchase another replacement security door for one that was damaged by a falling tree. The mfg and/or model of the old door was "Catalina". I can't find these at Home Depot now, but when I do order the replacement, I doubt it will be the El Dorado - unless they've fixed that hinge issue.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Ladyev Love the product..but........
The is just what I wanted but it has a gap at the bottom being about an inch too short. It looks as though it should have a bottom plate (or whatever it would be called) and it was left off. Looks unfinished on the bottom.
I know this could easily be fixed to look the way it should. Hope that will happen.
