Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2901tx Wish I would have stayed with the 14 inch
i decided to have the 10 inch versus 14 inch installed over a kitchen island. Thought the 14 inch would be too big, but the actual light portion of the 10 inch is really less than 9 inches. The issue was though there are plenty of windows, most have solar shades over them in the summer, and the sun rises on the opposite side of the house so in the morning when reading the paper, I had to turn on an overhead light even though it was bright outside. The solar tube has helped tremendously but I still would have liked more natural light. Maybe I should wait until winter to rate this since I will be pulling up the solar shades then.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wright Worst purchase ever
Missing upper flange for tunnel that was not included in the box. Contractor could not install and item needs and will be returned to the store. Since this was a two week shipping order item I had to go to Lowes to purchase another Velux Sun Tunnel. Very very costly as the contractor charged me return trip travel cost.

Purchased online from Home Depot and Installed 2 of the 10" Velux Solar Tubes in our dark living room at about 10' apart. They look great and let enough light in that we no longer have to keep a lamp on during the day time. The design of the Velux tubes with the notched edges and spring clips will hold the tubes together making it simple to size each end for final assembly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hokehouse1 We were able to install this item to our best visual advantage.
As a result of keeping hallway doors closed to our four little pups, we had a very dark hallway. With the installation of this product, we now keep reminding each other that the light wasn't left on...we just have beautiful natural light in that hallway all day long.

This has to be one of the best buy's I've made. After a tornado damaged the roof I had these installed along with a new roof. Our house is dark, faces east and west and gets little natural light. I had them put in three of these, one in each bathroom with no windows and the kitchen with a small window. Even on cloudy days no lights are needed. On sunny days they are brighter than the lights we have.
I did not install them but they looked simple enough and wouldn't have thought twice about installing it myself.
I'd do this again without reservations. In fact we're looking at installing two more in the living room.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RLO Plenty of light
We had our contractor install this skylight in our entryway, which has no direct window access. The difference is remarkable, and we have an ample amount of diffused light during the day. Heat transfer is minimal. We also installed the electric light accessory, for nighttime use, and essentially killed two birds with one stone. The light insert is not visible during the day (due to the translucent panel).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fdrdime Works great for me
I've never sawed a hole in my roof before but I gave it a shot. The job went better than I feared but the instructions were disappointing. They told me to do things but gave me no idea how to do it. EX: I put two lexan circles into a flexible ring but don't know here it belongs. Using a plumb I managed to get the holes in a straight line. The aluminum flashing unit is large, well made and easier to install than I feared. We've had heavy rain and there have been no leaks. You just join the tunnel sections by sliding them into each other then connect them securely with silver tape. The plastic ring in the hallway ceiling is high quality and very easy to install firmly. A totally dark area is now brightly lit. The Youtube videos were helpful.
