Answer:
Depends on which part you want to install and how tall is your roof ridge. If it was not closed to the roof ridge or roof ridge was not very tall, you might not need extension. For the safe side, buy a 2ft extension. If you don't need it, you can return it.

Answer:
The tube does not have to be one peice. The Sun Tunnel comes with 4 feet of tunnel, which consists of one 2ft straight piece and two 1ft elbows. You connect them together on the job site. You can purchase additional tunnel to make the 8 ft run needed. You will purchase an additional 4ft section that will actually consist of two 2ft sections, which you will also put together. All the sections are in 2ft Read More

Can a Sun Tunnel be installed on a tile roof? I would like to buy a rigid tube and a flex tube model.

If so, can you recommend the proper models? I am looking for more lighting in a hallway and a large closet. Also, the tile roof is the California style curved style, not a flat time roof.

Answer:
The SUN TUNNEL we manufacture that can go onto a tile roof are the pitched SUN TUNNELS the TMR rigid SUN TUNNEL, or TMF felxible SUN TUNNEL. In addition to the SUN TUNNEL you would need to but the ZTM 014 tile roof flashing kit to be able to flash that SUN TUNNEL to your roof deck. Thank you for choosing VELUX!

Answer:
The recommended minimum length is 12 inches, which is the size of the upper elbow that must be used in the install. However, if needed, you can cut it down to approximately 10 inches. Thank you for choosing VELUX!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad quality I was convinced by many good reviews of the product, and decided to give it a try. I was surprised to found out that the first one came with a defect. I knew this was manageable but I spent big bucks and I want something perfect! So I returned it and ordered again. I was so disappointed when I opened the box. It was even worse than the first one. I ended up return it along with the 2 ft rigid extension I bought. I don't want to try this anymore. July 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Just had a TLR installed to an interior bath while a new roof was put on. It is amazing how much light fills the room. One of out better decisions. June 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As described This unit is very easy to install looke great and adds light to any closet. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Same performance with no plastic bubble. Despite being 1400sq', single story, with an abundance of windows, the light brown walls ate all the light coming into our home, making it dark and depressing even in the summer. So, when the time came to re-roof, we installed 7 Velux skylights all together. 2 electric 4646's, 1 fixed 3046, and 4 tubes. Two of the tubes would be visible from the street, and I am not fond of the appearance of the plastic dome. Luckily I discovered the TLR low-profile unit while planning the project. Another reason for choosing the TLR was the pitch of our roof was such that a TMR, which our roofer recommended over the TGR for our roof, would have sat askew/out of level. We did go with the TGR instead of the TMR for the domed units after meeting with the Velux rep, but that's a different story. ****Bottom line: The Velux Sun Tunnel skylights bring in much more light than we were expecting (after seeing our neighbor's new tubular skylight), and there is no discernible difference between the amount of light coming in through the two Sun Tunnel's with the plastic dome, and the two with the flat glass termination. The finished appearance is discreet and attractive, and was worth the extra hundred dollars. In fact, though I love the two enormous venting skylights in our living area, in hindsight I may have opted instead for 4 TLR tubes, which would have resulted in as much and possibly more light, less cost, and less additional load in heating and A/C. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is an excellent sun tunnel, that doesn't look like a "bubble" This sun tunnel provides excellent light, is well built and looks great on the roof. Since it is flat glass, it blends in nicely on the roof, instead of looking like a bubble up there. Great on a visible side of the roof. July 17, 2013
