I was convinced by many good reviews of the product, and decided to give it a try. I was surprised to found out that the first one came with a defect. I knew this was manageable but I spent big bucks and I want something perfect! So I returned it and ordered again. I was so disappointed when I opened the box. It was even worse than the first one. I ended up return it along with the 2 ft rigid extension I bought. I don't want to try this anymore.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Joen 5th Velux Product Installed
This is my fifth Velux purchase. 2 were 2'x4' double glass insulated sky lights - great product. 2 others were 10" polycarbinate domes with interior diffuseres made of Prismatic GLASS - also great products. This latest install was a 14" tempered flat glass roof assembly. So much better looking than the domes and the extra wide flashing a huge benefit for not having roof leaks. BUT the interior frosted ceiling diffuser is a cheap plastic and mine was cracked. It took 31 days to get the right replacement. This is why I did not recommend nor not recommend this product. Again, the exterior roof appearance is so much nicer than the domes.

Just had a TLR installed to an interior bath while a new roof was put on. It is amazing how much light fills the room. One of out better decisions.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gig0l0J0e Same performance with no plastic bubble.
Despite being 1400sq', single story, with an abundance of windows, the light brown walls ate all the light coming into our home, making it dark and depressing even in the summer. So, when the time came to re-roof, we installed 7 Velux skylights all together. 2 electric 4646's, 1 fixed 3046, and 4 tubes.
Two of the tubes would be visible from the street, and I am not fond of the appearance of the plastic dome. Luckily I discovered the TLR low-profile unit while planning the project. Another reason for choosing the TLR was the pitch of our roof was such that a TMR, which our roofer recommended over the TGR for our roof, would have sat askew/out of level. We did go with the TGR instead of the TMR for the domed units after meeting with the Velux rep, but that's a different story.
****Bottom line: The Velux Sun Tunnel skylights bring in much more light than we were expecting (after seeing our neighbor's new tubular skylight), and there is no discernible difference between the amount of light coming in through the two Sun Tunnel's with the plastic dome, and the two with the flat glass termination. The finished appearance is discreet and attractive, and was worth the extra hundred dollars.
In fact, though I love the two enormous venting skylights in our living area, in hindsight I may have opted instead for 4 TLR tubes, which would have resulted in as much and possibly more light, less cost, and less additional load in heating and A/C.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by blummer This is an excellent sun tunnel, that doesn't look like a "bubble"
This sun tunnel provides excellent light, is well built and looks great on the roof. Since it is flat glass, it blends in nicely on the roof, instead of looking like a bubble up there. Great on a visible side of the roof.
