The Sun tunnel brings in good light, even in overcast days. The installation instructions are probably the worst I have ever seen, they should have brought in someone who never installed one before and watch him install one following the instructions to see what they missed, I am not a novice in doing work around the house and found the instructions less than adequate for example they never mentioned which part of the extension tube should be up or down (wide or narrow side), and no clear instruction on what part of the ceiling base the tube should rest in. The extensions in the box were bent on the edges even thought the box was in tact so it could be quality issue at Velux.

I like this product and it provides much light in our previously dark foyer. Installation would have been easy except for one problem. The instructions and descriptions list a maximum recommended tunnel length of 20ft. However, there is no mention of a minimum distance. The swivel pipes for top and bottom of the tunnel probably work fine if you have at least 24" from the ceiling ring to the dome at the roof. I have a 3/12 pitch roof and my installation location only gave me 15". I had to disassemble the elbows and force the whole thing to make a jog by force and sheet metal screws. The light is still bright, but it could be better. The 10" version might have shorter swivel pipes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chuck2 This TMR 014 works better than I expected
I bought one of these from Home Depot for our bathroom and it perormed so well I bought a second one for the kitchen. The price was among the lowest of on-line prices.and is fairly straight forward to install. The hardest part is removing the shingles from the roof and installing the flashing. It took me about 6 hours to install each one. I spent a lot of time climbing up and down the latter getting the tools I needed. Assembling the tube is a bit tricky and took several tries to get to fit properly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by westbeach If you have a dark/windowless room, you'll love this product
Our builder didn't put any windows in our bath or closet so even at noon on a sunny day I had to turn on lights to find shoes that matched. We put a Velux 14" in the bath area & a 10" in the closet--WOW factor 100%. Roofer installed 2 in about 1.5 hours. Our first Velux sun tunnel is 3 years old & no problems-light without electricity. love it!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Homeowner Customer service is bad, but good product
I had to install these in an area with a vaulted ceiling which left only about 2 feet of space from roof to ceiling. I contacted customer support 4 or 5 times and got just as many answers telling me what the minimum space for installation was. We ended up not using the bottom joint and got them installed but it was tricky.
I was also agonizing between these and the Solatube brand skylights and ended up choosing these because of the price. I'm satisfied with the result, though now that I see them I expect the Solatube may have brought in a bit more light.
Pros: Decent materials, and they look great once finished.
Cons: The diffusers make the light seem to be closer to the color of a fluorescent bulb, rather than a warm yellow.

It was installed in the living room and we have a lot of shade trees on that side of the house and are very pleased with the amount of light that comes. It transforms that room from a dark one to light and inviting.

this highly reflective skylight is brighter than our energy efficient light bulbs. I rarely need to turn on the lights even when preparing dinner.
