Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by GP These skylights don't last and will leak!
If you install these you can expect to get maybe 10 years out of them before they start to leak. Velux warranty is only 10 years and they will not honor the warranty unless you have a Velux inspector inspect them after installation. This pushes the cost up huge.
Great window but expect to replace them every 10 years and note insurance providers will not insure for water damage caused by these windows due to too many claims recently on leaky Velux windows.
Based on past experience i would not recommend Velux skylights.

I am amazed how easy this skylight was to install. I replaced my "bubble" type plastic ones that came with this house. These are an easy plug and play it even says it on the box. . All I did extra was a bit of weather stripping on my curb to stop any air that may try and sneak in during our frequent wind storms.
I love their weight the most. Just dropped on it feels you wouldn't need to do anything else. I did like the YouTube vid said and had my helper push down on them while I drilled the screws in. They snugged right in with a great seal.
They are a HUGE improvement over the old plastic bubble ones. I just wish I had done it sooner.

God created light and it's wonderful to be able to see it. I don't know how well insulated these skylight are but I will update my review in winter.

The Velux skylights are a great addition to our home. Instructions were clear, but we wish the flashing had been included or at least the need for it indicated on the packaging.
Home Depot did not carry the flashing on a roll- only a flashing kit which was quite expensive. We ended up purchasing a roll of flashing from Lowe's (sorry Home Depot!)
Skylights are heavy, but that is good! it shows their high quality.
We are very pleased with the quality and appearance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ASW123 Very good product, easy to install, cost effective. Strongly recommend it to replace plastic lights!
Bought these to replace old plastic ski lights. I also bought the flashing and curb installation kits that go with them (strongly recommended!). To install them properly you will need to strip the shingles down to the deck and install the step flashing integrating with the new shingles. I consider myself handy and it was no problem. The actual sky light installs on top of the opening and flashing system in less than 10 minutes.
I would plan on 4 hours to replace the light assuming your deck and curbing are in good shape. If its a new opening, it will take longer as you will have some carpentry work to do.

Nice replacement. I didn't want to replace the curb and roof shingles to save cost since there was no leaking problem. After having to cut the frame of the existing bubble, I built an aluminum frame of 1X1 square tube to mount the new cover onto. Turned out pretty good. This has yet to be proven by a good rainstorm. I would have given it a 5, but a bit of the weatherstrip was out of place around the glass
