Answer:
Definitely not! If you cut off the bottom end of the hook tube that mates with the window loop, you will have removed the pop-up button that locks the top section with the crank section. If you collapse the two rods to their minimum length, the whole thing is about four feet long.
If you don't care how it looks, you could cut off the bottom end of the loop connector pole and the top of the crank pole Read More

If you don't care how it looks, you could cut off the bottom end of the loop connector pole and the top of the crank pole with a tubing cutter. Then smooth out the ends. Now you would have to drill a hole through both tubes at the correct length and insert a proper-length machine bolt with lock washer and nut. Tighten it down and you have a kludgy product, but the right length.
The question is, if you need such a short control rod, wouldn't a hand crank on the skylight work for you? Read Less

This particular rod is only 6-10 feet. We do offer a 2 foot control rod that will operate skylights only. It is not found online but an associate at a store can contact us to place a special order. The part number is ZOZ 032.

Answer:
This rod has a hook at the top end, designed to mate with a loop in the skylight assembly. If your skylight has a loop sticking out, this rod ought to work. If your skylight has anything else, this rod won't help you.

Answer:
The ZCT 300 is the rod that is used to operate manually venting skylights. This will also operate older blinds. We also have a ZXT 200 rod that is used to control newer manual blinds. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to contact us directly at 800-888-3589.

Answer:
Amazon shows a Replacement Hook Drive for Skylight and Awning Poles with an outside diameter of 17/32" to fit inside the rod. It looks like you may need to drill a couple of holes to accommodate the screws. It's pricey at $13.95 plus $5.15 shipping.

Answer:
If you are asking for the hook that is part of the rod, then no. If you need the hook that is part of the skylight, then possibly. We would need to determine the exact model that you have and what hook goes with it. Please call us at 800-888-3589 if assistance is needed.

Answer:
Thank you for your feedback. This can happen if someone purchases the items in between seeing it at the store and time of purchase. It does take a little while for the website to catch up. We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service Assembly was easy. However it did not work for the application due to ordering the wrong model. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Manual reliability Decided to install the manual Velux skylight due to its simple reliability. The handle is solid and lightweight and opens and closes the vent easily. Can't go wrong with Velux and Home Depot had the best prices and selection. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, but difficult with deep-set skylights The control rod is easy to crank and it is adequately adjustable. With deep-set skylights, I have some difficulty getting the hook end into the loop of the skylight. The opening of the hook is small and, if the closed position of the loop is vertical, it is difficult to get an angle that will allow the hook to engage. The effort requires hooking the outside of the loop and turning it toward the horizontal. Once turned, however, the loop is loose and easily moves away from the hook, unless it is engaged on the first attempt. May 13, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Should be included in window price This extension pole should come with the window instead of having to purchase it separately. October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Telescoping control rod Excellent product and great service would recommend September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made lightweight control rod for Velux ventilated skylight I had ordered a Velux ventilated skylight, and saw that a companion control rod would be needed. The Velux control rod comes as three sections held together by a neat clip. It was very easy to fit the pieces together and adjust them to the correct length to reach my skylight. Because the rod is lightweight, yet sturdy, I had no trouble getting the rod into place to operate the window loop connector. The hook at the end of this model rod mates perfectly with the loop at the bottom of my Velux skylight, and doesn't wobble or fall off when operating. Note: my skylight just had a hole in the bottom to insert whichever cranking mechanism was appropriate. The control rod came with the loop assembly that mates with it. Screw it in and you're ready to crank. April 21, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rod The rod keep coming out of the eye hook up on the sky lights wish it has a better clip or a hook ! I threw it away waste of money I made one better than this cost me 99 cents August 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Skylight lets out the Air Works great! When the Kitchen gets stuffy, just crank the skylight open and let the stuffy out! Wish I had bought the electric opener Skylight... But this works great. June 5, 2015
