Assembly was easy. However it did not work for the application due to ordering the wrong model.

Decided to install the manual Velux skylight due to its simple reliability. The handle is solid and lightweight and opens and closes the vent easily. Can't go wrong with Velux and Home Depot had the best prices and selection.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sculptor Good, but difficult with deep-set skylights
The control rod is easy to crank and it is adequately adjustable. With deep-set skylights, I have some difficulty getting the hook end into the loop of the skylight. The opening of the hook is small and, if the closed position of the loop is vertical, it is difficult to get an angle that will allow the hook to engage. The effort requires hooking the outside of the loop and turning it toward the horizontal. Once turned, however, the loop is loose and easily moves away from the hook, unless it is engaged on the first attempt.

This extension pole should come with the window instead of having to purchase it separately.

I had ordered a Velux ventilated skylight, and saw that a companion control rod would be needed. The Velux control rod comes as three sections held together by a neat clip. It was very easy to fit the pieces together and adjust them to the correct length to reach my skylight. Because the rod is lightweight, yet sturdy, I had no trouble getting the rod into place to operate the window loop connector.
The hook at the end of this model rod mates perfectly with the loop at the bottom of my Velux skylight, and doesn't wobble or fall off when operating. Note: my skylight just had a hole in the bottom to insert whichever cranking mechanism was appropriate. The control rod came with the loop assembly that mates with it. Screw it in and you're ready to crank.

When the Kitchen gets stuffy, just crank the skylight open and let the stuffy out!
Wish I had bought the electric opener Skylight... But this works great.
