Customer Questions & Answers

Which crank handle would be compatible with my VS 104 0075H 25 AP11A skylight?

Asked by: Biff3a
This Crank Handle is compatible with the newer version VS Skylights, only. Your 2004 vintage VS Skylight takes the ZZZ 180 Crank Handle. Since this is a special purchase, you must go to a local Home Depot and speak with a Representative to place your order. Thank you for choosing VELUX!

My deck mounted VS skylight (installed summer, 2015) came with a loop for an extension rod. The loop has a retaining screw (see photo). The first handle crank I ordered did not have the retaining screw and fell off. What is the correct crank handle to replace the loop?

how much clearance is needed for for the handle on a curb mounted venting VCM 4646 handle

With our current skylight that has a hook type mechanism we only have about 2 3/4" clearance between the hook and the drywall. The current skylight is not a vlux, but we are replacing and trying to determine if a crank would fit before we order a vcm 4646.
Asked by: Greg
The curb mounted VCM skylight will come with and extender piece for the chain operator. Depending on your flare or angle of installation it should give you and inch of clearance between the handle and the skylight. Thank you for choosing VELUX!

Skylights installed 08/10/17--came with the loop for a pole and the loop is too hard to turn. We don't need the loop since ours are installed in skylights within easy reach. We ordered this handle and removed the loop which was attached with a screw. The handle DOES NOT HAVE A PLACE FOR A SCREW SO THEREFORE YOU CANNOT ATTACH IT. Tech Support said it's not supposed to attach!!!! You have to place it over the crank shaft to open and close the skylight and then remove it otherwise it falls off WHICH IS TRUE BECAUSE WE TRIED IT. Unbelievable... Not happy with Velux at all. Interior construction of skylights seems like cheap plastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handle for Skylight This handle makes it much easier to open our manual skylights. The skylights are not high up and are within our reach.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The missing piece.. Once installed (easy), the crank is an essential tool for opening the Velux skylight with ease. Turning the screw-like handle that comes with the unit is time-consuming and annoying. The crank should COME WITH the window as an essential part!

I received the crank handle in short order, it popped right into the skylight and works much easier than the turning device that came with the window. I can't imagine why it isn't with the window when purchased - the other thingamajig is ridiculous. I purchased the crank after reading other reviews, and I'm very happy that I did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not fit Velux VS skylights We have two Velux VS model skylights in our finished attic so they are easily accessible without an extension pole. These cranks do not fit our model VS skylights. Ours have a large hexagonal fitting onto which the crank handle attaches, and these crank handles are the type that would fit a standard casement window. They should specify which Velux skylights these will work with. No sweat, we'll just return these and search for the correct fitting cranks.
