Customer Questions & Answers

My skylight opening is 19.25 to 19.44 wide by approx. 43,5 long. is the blind assemblable on site? And is there any room for variance on size?

Asked by: none
Yes, the blind is assembled on the job site, unless you ordered it pre-installed in your skylight. The blinds are very specific to the size of the skylight, therefore, there is no variance. However, if you have a FCM (fixed skylight), there may be little tolerance, but on the Venting skylights, there is not. Thank you.

The actual size of my opening is 21.5 in wide and 45.5 long. Which blind should I get?

Asked by: Chris
The correct blind is determined by the model as well as the size. I will need the serial number of your skylight (metal tag, inside bottom frame) to determine which model blind is compatible. Thank you.

Do these come with bug screens installed on them.

Asked by: travis
The Venting Skylights, such as VCM, VCS, VS, VSE, and VSS come with insect screens already installed in them. The Fixed Skylights, such as FCM, QPF, and FS do not come with insect screens, as there is no need because they don't vent at all. Thank you.

Does Home Depot install the VELUX Solar Powered Skylight Blinds? What is the cost for installation?

Asked by: Anonymous
If your question is simply regarding having a blind installed into an existing skylight, you will have to check with your local store to see if they offer an installation option. There are also installers that are certified by VELUX and listed on our website at www.veluxusa.com.

Customer Reviews

Dark Blue Solar Powered Light Filtering Skylight Blinds for FCM/QPF/VCM 3030 Models is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great addition to a great skylight. We purchased this shade to cover the replacement skylight we have recently purchased and installed in our dining room. The old skylight (original to the house) did not actually let in much real light, while the new Velux skylight lets in the sun with all of its glory intact. Unfortunately, too much so in this extreme summer we've been having. Since this skylight is in a vaulted ceiling, we didn't want to go with the rod-driven system. The shade installed easily, and blocks enough light to keep the room much cooler. The built-in solar battery charger means that the shade has zero wiring required - but don't forget to plug the battery in before hanging the shade. The instructions were in pure pictogram form, except for the comic-book style "Snap! Snap!" labels where appropriate. The remote control is very simple - three buttons - and unobtrusive. We've mounted it next to our thermostat control. When we activate the remote, the automatic movement of the shade becomes a source of endless fascination for our cats.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unimaginable stupid design I purchased this solar powered blinds together with solar powered venting. The venting works good, but the operation of blinds seems to be very very stupid since I always got the operation error. The blinds just like a high school student robot project, but I wonder why it is hard to operate it.
