Product Overview

VELUX skylight blinds can help turn an ordinary room into something special, and a variety of colors are available, so you can customize the look in your living space. Our solar powered blinds allow you to control the light and heat that enters a room using only the power of the sun, and they do not require wiring or an electrician to install because they are operated by a remote control keypad. During summer days when temperatures are high and the sun is extra bright, the blinds can be closed to reduce potential solar heat gain, and during winter nights when temperatures are low, the blinds can be closed to provide an extra layer of thermal insulation and keep warm air indoors. Blackout blinds convert day into night, blocking even the brightest sunlight, which makes them perfect for rooms that require total room darkening such as bedrooms or TV/entertainment rooms. They are ideal for afternoon siestas and light summer nights.

  • VELUX solar powered blinds are eligible for a 30 percent federal tax credit, including product and installation costs
  • The blackout blind has an energy efficient aluminum coating on the non-visible exterior side which acts as a barrier and provides optimal protection against heat. This blind can improve your energy performance rating by as much as 45 percent, and reduces your heating and cooling costs due to the better natural climate control in your room
  • Maximum light blocking - tight design and light blocking fabric block sunlight so that less than 2 percent enters the room
  • Blackout blinds provide glare control by blocking direct sunlight to significantly reduce or eliminate glare on your tv or computer screen, which increases the versatility of the room
  • DSC 2222 models are designed specifically for VELUX FCM/QPF/VCM 2222 series skylights
  • Installation on non-VELUX skylights or other VELUX models is not recommended
  • Important: For FCM 2222 series skylights, accessory tray (ZZZ 199 2222) is required and sold separately with pick&click brackets built-in for fast and easy installation of sunscreening blinds and accessories
  • VCM and QPF series skylights come with Pick&Click brackets pre-installed for fast and easy installation of sunscreening blinds and accessories
  • VELUX radio frequency wall-mounted keypad (KLI 110, included with solar blinds) or advanced remote (KLR 100, sold separately) allow the user to operate skylights and blinds from almost anywhere within the house and can operate skylights and blinds individually or as part of a group
  • With the KLR 100 remote you can create programs to control the blinds automatically based on time of day, day of the week, or month of the year
  • Color - nature metallic gray with thermo coating (color 3185)
  • More colors are available for ordering through homedepot.com or special order at your local store
  • Skylight sold separately
  • Skylights with blinds factory-installed at no extra charge are also available

Answer:
Hello, yes the advanced INTEGRA® touch screen control pad can be used with all VELUX solar powered and electric skylights and blinds, including those that were previously operated by the discontinued KLR 100 remote. Our solar powered and electric skylights come with the INTEGRA®, but it is also sold separately. A basic KLI 110 remote is included with our solar powered blinds.

It looks like other sites offer pre-assembly of both the skylight and blind prior to shipping.

Answer:
Yes, our blinds can be added to VELUX skylights that are already installed, and it's very easy to do because of our Pick&Click!™ bracket system. If a particular model with blind is not available online, our full selection is available for ordering through your local store, and the blind will come pre-installed for free.

can it be mounted with the insect blind at the same time?

I'd like to install this solar powered blind, but only if I can still use the insect blind.
It looks like the blackout blind is mount on the inside frame, whereas the insect blind is mounted
on the outside frame.

So, in theory, no problem, you can have both.

Can someone confirm this?

In particular, I fear the electric block of the powered blind might protrude too much.
It's hard to tell from the picture or the installation guidelines.

Answer:
The blinds are made to fit specific model skylights. The cost of the blind may vary depending on certain parameters. If you happen to know which specific model skylight you have, maybe you can search by that specifically or you may call us at 800-888-3589 for further assistance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by must-have extension for Velux windows Easy to install, looks good, and saves energy. One gotcha when installing: make sure to center the moving block so that both gears on either sides are centered on their tracks. Also, this blind does not prevent the use of the mosquito screen.
