These Velux blinds are made for the specific skylight model specified, so fit, finish, and installation tolerances are essentially perfect. The installation pictograms are pretty good overall -- first blind was installed in about 20 minutes and the next two in 10 minutes each. This is one of those instances in which trying to save a little money by purchasing a third-party blind is simply the wrong way to go.

While not super simple to install, the instructions were very clear and we were able to get it installed fairly easily. The shade works really well and is a great accessory for the skylight. I highly recommend them

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dumlong Very well engineered kit optimized for easy DIY install
These blinds are made to fit Velux skylights, and they do fit perfectly with no tweaks or fitment required on the installer, it's made from durable aluminum and the blinds are advertised as room darkening but it's near blackout which works great in my application. When fully closed, you can only see a "white" outline from direct sunlight but the room is dark enough to sleep in. The string on one side got jostled in shipment and got behind the metal frame and I put it on not paying attention, but other than that, it took very little effort to install correctly, they even include the screw driver. The only downside for such a well engineered solution is that it's very expensive for what can be considered a window dressing item.

I could go with 3 Day Blinds for a manual blind that would sit outside the window and ruin the depth of the frame, or I could go with the Velux that is solar powered, comes with a remote, gets me a tax credit, and looks amazing for less than 1/2 the cost!!!
What an eye-opening experience! I've learned that you should never go with the big name blinds companies like 3 Day or Budget (which should really be called Budget Busters). Go with Home Depot, and they now provide installation services for virtually anything in your house for a reasonable price if you're too lazy to do this install yourself.
It took me 45 minutes to install the first blind, and 25 minutes for the second one, and I'm not handy! It's rare that I'm this happy with any product or service, so congrats Velux for doing this right,
