I have a Moen hand held shower head mounted to a slide bar.
The system worked flawlessly for 15 years.
The original Moen shower head was leaking.
I was unable to find a replacement for the 15 year old model.
I decided to purchase a top mount (connects to a shower head) Moen hand held shower head & hose.
The hand held shower head is lot larger and heavier than the original and has 5 settings.
The hose is a little shorter than the original hose.
There is no shower head.
The existing drop-ell was installed eight inches to the right of the water spout.
There is a vacuum breaker installed on to the drop-ell that was included in the kit.
The water must rise up in to the hose to a maximum seven feet (slide bar max. height)
I detached the original hand held shower head from the hose..
I twisted off the existing hose from the vacuum breaker..
I twisted on the replacement hose to the vacuum breaker.
I attached the new hand held shower head to the new hose.
All connections were tightened, and I did not use tape.
I tested the shower head and it shut off on full pressure, no leaks..
There is a pull-pin on the spout that diverts the water to the hand held shower head.
The flow of water shuts off completely when the faucet is turned on full and the spout pin is pulled up all the way.
The water will flow continuously, on low pressure from both the spout and hand held shower head, when the spout pin is pulled up half the way.
Why is the hand held shower head shutting off when the water is full pressure and the spout pin is pulled up all the way?
To much water flow, not enough? Missing a screen, gasket? Hose diameter, length?
