Answer:
Yes. Even where it gets a little thick (as in corners or cracks), it will dry completely clear. It will just take an extra hour or so to dry clear where it was thickly applied.

I have a kitchen tile floor that is a mottled beige color, and that I do not like at all. I wish to try a product like the Varathane amber stain and seal product for this project. Would you recommend this product for my application? Do you have something else that may work better? Thanks

Answer:
Varathane Polyurethane is not recommended for use on floors. It is not designed to withstand foot traffic or adhere to tile. Instead, to refinish a tile floor, use Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Floor Coating Kit. http://www.homedepot.com/b/Interior-Paint-Stain/N-5yc1vZ1z0vjno/Ntk-All/Ntt-rocksolid?Ntx=mode+matchall&NCNI-5

Answer:
Hello KcMa!
Thank you for your question!
Applying this polyurethane on your kitchen table will work well. Semi-gloss is a great choice because it is both durable and easy to clean.
Have a great day,
Christine

Answer:
Thanks for your question. This product has oil-based poly characteristics with the ease of soap and water clean-up. The product will have a light golden tone to it. You can locate a Crystal Clear Varathane Semi-Gloss Polyurethane in a gallon size by searching for # 200131 on Home Depot.com.

Customer Reviews

1 gal. Amber Semi-Gloss Interior Polyurethane (Case of 2) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than oil-based polyurethane This stuff is marvelous. First, it has very little smell compared to oil-based. Second, it's much easier to paint on floors than oil-based polys and much more forgiving if you miss a spot and have to go back over it afterwards, plus the brushes are easy to clean when you're done. Third, it is much thicker than the Minwax polys, which are not suitable for floors. (Minwax polys are fine for cabinets and such, things that do not get the rough treatment of floors.) Fourth, it dries quicker, such that a second coat can be applied after four hours (though I usually give it at least six). And finally, it gives a clearer coating to the floor, not the yellowish color associated with oil-based polys. (As a result, the floor will not have the "warm" look of oil-base poly, but will instead show the natural color of the wood.) This is definitely my preferred way to coat a new or resurfaced floor. I've used it for several years and have never been disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good This was supposed to leave an amber tone and hasn't. Also, multiple coats and looks like barely anything on. Going back to oil based.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product for DIY Easy to use. Was able to do 250 sqft with two coats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NIce product I used this for some shelving made out of very rough old wood, it sealed it up nicely without making the wood look too shiny, in fact, you can't see any shine at all, which is what I wanted. I also used it to seal a hardboard plywood countertop, which after 4 coats, looks greats, slightly shiny but not too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great. I preferred this brand versus the last brand that I was using. It seems to give better coverage, better protection, and easier to apply. The price point is even better. I am glad I found, and started using this brand.
