Customer Questions & Answers

What type of sealer do you need before you apply the finish to new wood

Asked by: Bigdog63
Happy to clear things up! Varathane Premium Floor Finish is an oil-based polyurethane and should be used with a sealer that is suitable for that. We recommend using Zinsser Bulls-Eye Universal Sanding Sealer.

can this be used on a painted wood surface

i would like to know if this can be used over an oiled based paint that has been applied to a wood floor thanks
Asked by: varathane
We recommend following the paint manufacturer’s direction to determine if it can be top coated. We also suggest testing Varathane Premium Floor finish in an inconspicuous area before beginning. This is an important step as it may affect the appearance of the existing finish.
