I was skeptical about using a finish with a metallic look. I refinished an old cherry desk that was pretty beat up. The finished look is unbelievable. Every one that sees it comments on it. They say it looks like a new desk. The metallic in the finish is very subtle but gives the finish a different but fantastic look. It looks different depending on the lighting conditions. I couldn't be more pleased.

This is a pretty neat product. Its a toner (tinted protective coat) with metal flake, similar to some automotive paints. I tested this finish on pine, walnut, and oak. I think it looks really nice on the pine and oak. Its pretty dark on the walnut. The metal flake is subtle, but definitely noticeable in the right light.
All toners can be a little finicky, and this one is no exception. You have to make sure you get full even coverage with each coat as adding coats changes the darkness of the finish significantly (see photo for one and two coats on each sample). Any uncoated areas will stand out strongly when a second coat is applied.
All together, this is a very interesting product and I would definitely consider working with it again.

I really should have picked another type of Polyurethane. The finish was light, then streaked, then darker, then really dark. When does the color stop changing? I couldn't tell. It was very hard to keep those little metal flakes mixed with a good dispersion.
I have painted cars with metallic flake and Pearl. This stuff was way harder to use! I would recommend if you can have somebody stirring while you paint. The results were streaky and blotchy. I will be doing that project over.
