Answer:
Hello kg, This roof mount ventilator is not intended to be mounted in a vertical installation, as this may allow moisture to enter the attic. A good alternative would be an industrial exhaust fan such as an IF14 or a gable mount attic ventilator such as the CX1500UPS model.

Answer:
The thermostat is an in-line make/break style. It does not require power to operate. The thermostat is not pre-wired to the unit and will need to be wired in the attic.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attic fan works great! The fan arrived quickly after order was placed. It was easy to install and the temperature dropped 20 deg F after a couple of hours after installation. September 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Deal For the money this is a great product, it is not the best on the market but I did not pay a lot for it either. Not sure about some of the reviews for this product complaining of noise. It is a electric fan which will make some noise. When inside you have to concentrate to hear it running ( very quiet ). The reviews complaining about noise may have installed incorrectly. August 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1400 CFM GALVANIZED STEEL, ROOF POWER ATTIC VENTILATOR This is a very good way to vent your attic in the hot months. I set the thermostat to about 95 Deg. it only uses about as much energy as 2 100 watt light bulbs way less expensive then running the AC. September 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a relief!! We bought this for our attic in our condominium because our a/c was working too hard. We have central air, but we had to leave it at a very low 65 in order for it to come on enough during the night to keep us cool. Our attic sits above our master bedroom and the hot air would just sit up there and make our bedroom so hot. After installing this ventilator, the relief was almost immediate. Now we can leave our a/c set on 69 at night and it is actually cooler upstairs than downstairs now, and that was never the case. 5 Stars definitely for this product. I wish I could take a picture, but the roof is way to high:) We set the thermostat to 85 degrees, that seems to work best for us. That's the awesome part of it, the ventilator is not always on. The price was unbeatable!!! We had a professional install it for $130. September 17, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value but nosiy The installation was quick and easy but the fans have to much of a vibration in them. I purchased two and now regret the purchase. I should have used gable end fans. If you have a high pitched roof you might be able to reduce the noise but lower pitched roofs I would recommend not placing them above living areas (i.e. bedrooms or offices). June 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ventamatic 1400 CFM Roof Power Attic Ventilator Home Depot online had the best price and free shipping to my home. The shipping was very fast and the product was exactly as advertised. I just installed one of the two fans that I ordered this past weekend. Installation was easy and the product performed well. The only slight negative was that one of the machine screws in the cap was stripped out. It made it difficult to remove. No big deal, though. I'd still buy them again. August 31, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excelente product, no more problems! is an excellent product, with this heat pump is just my attic, also makes little noise and heat out perfectly for an area of 450 square feet. I recommended it to my cousin and he also already bought one November 28, 2012
