Answer:
I just remove the six screws that hold the front grill on, loosen the set screw that holds the fan blades to the motor, remove the blade set and clean the blades with soap and water.
Be careful to not bend the blades as that will affect the balance.

Simply unscrew the fasteners and the grill work comes apart for easy cleaning with a scrub brush, or damp cleaning cloth. It's not all that difficult. For the blades, simple wipe with a damp cloth. NEVER CLEAN WITH THE ELECTRIC CORD PLUGED IN. I should note that these blades are easily bent and could present operating vibration if bent out of place during rotation. As a side note about this product, when operating, insure that there is ample space behind, and around the fan, when in operation. The back plate of the electric motor can get rather hot. So, avoid setting up your fan near drapes and other items that may come in contact with the back of the fan. Read Less

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Owned one year now screws were a major [pain to remove from grill,to clean the blades. It is much louder than than the high velocity it replaced. If it falls or is knocked forward, the blades will bend. If if falls or is knocked on either side.the blades will bend. If it falls or is knocked to back side. the blades will bend. Se ems like a stupid comment. but the balance is very easily upset. touch when you walk by pull the cord....ect ( I am 45 with no children so minimum contact with fan. The lift handle is not balance to the fan either,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fan! The MaxxAir 20in. floor fan really lives up to it's claim of being powerful. It is able to cool off a hot room. l love that it's loud, drowns out the noise, while I sleep..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy Got this for my Husband to use at work. He is a mechanic in a shop. He likes it but wishes it had more or wider blades. It pushes a good bit of air, but he has to run on High all the time. In a normal circumstance say in a home you wouldn't need to run it on high. The cage to me was not as sturdy as the one we had previously, but it is sturdy enough if you are using it in a room, or on a porch. Reasonably quiet...well priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Fan Made in Texas This is my fourth Ventamatic Maxx Air floor fan. My fans just seem to leave when my kids are here. I have only had one fail out of the four. That one ran 24/7 in my workshop for the last several years. The motor finally gave up last month so I ordered another one to replace it. These fans move a LOT of air for their size and are very quiet. Don't be fooled by the Chinese knock-offs being sold.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from floor fan The overall construction seems less sturdy than floor fans I have purchased in the past. Because of that it is lighter. It seems to be fairly quiet now.

Do not buy this if you want a gentle breeze while watching TV. This moves air in mass quantities. If you've ever seen a dog hanging out the window of a moving car, his lips flapping in the force of the air hitting his face...that's how you will feel if you sit too close to this thing. I gave it a 4 star because it's loud - not because the motor is loud, but the air coming off this thing is kinda loud - and it's not like its unbearably loud, it just doesn't have a "slow enough" setting to be quiet. In a shop setting or somewhere that noise is not really an issue, this thing is awesome. Did I mention it moves some serious air?

As other reviewers have noted, this fan is very loud, and there is very little difference between the three speeds. It is, however, suitable for my needs. Hence my 3-star rating. I've only owned it for a month, but the first thing I did was to disassemble it and oil the bearings. I hope that will help it to last it for at least two years. Our previous (similar) fan was by a famous manufacturer, and lasted for about 12-15 years. This one was only about 30 dollars, and a more direct replacement would have been over a hundred, so 5 years would be great out of this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from hot back plate of motor Be very careful where you put this fan. The metal backing of the motor's housing gets very hot. It's even too hot to touch after the fan has been running for only a short while. Avoid placing next to items such as drapes and other combustibles.
