The unit can be used on any roof under an 8/12 pitch. For the use on a metal roof you will need to ensure proper sealing for rain infiltration is used.

Answer:
Hi Hank. This roof-mount ventilator is not intended to be mounted in a vertical installation, as this may allow moisture to enter the attic. A more preferable unit would be a gable mounted attic ventilator behind a gable vent--similar gable vent models would be the CX1500UPS (1300 CFM) and CX1600UPS (1600 CFM).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ventamatic cool attic 1400 This attic cooler works every bit like they describe with ventamatic you cannot go wrong September 6, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy A little noisy for an open top metal building but would be just fine in an attic of a home. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pays for itself easy to install and wire up this replacement fan. Outer cover seems very durable and resistant to rust. Fan seems very powerful and effective although is a little bit loud (more so than the old one). From past experience, these attic fans are extremely effective to keep the attic heat from increasing temperature in the living areas (easily by 5 degrees or more) thus saving seasonal ac cooling cost by at least 15%. Pays for itself and long lasting w/o any required maintenance what so ever. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attic fan works great! The fan arrived quickly after order was placed. It was easy to install and the temperature dropped 20 deg F after a couple of hours after installation. September 4, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive power to move hot air out Was a bit hesitant to cut a hole in the roof but instructions included with this unit guided me step by step. I am impressed with the amount of air this fan moves. I've had to increase soffit venting to ensure it has adequate air flow but overall, great buy!!! April 16, 2014
