Kobo 19-1/2 in. Dia Round Black Plastic Planter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight Solution I originally intended to put some flowers in this planter but decided it was too tall for what I had in mind. Instead I placed a fern on a pedestal which can easily be removed in the winter and since it is so light-weight it will be easy to move the planter into storage for the cold months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable, lightweight, modern look I originally ordered this to use a flower planter, but once I received it, I realized it wasn't really ideal for that type of application. It's quite tall, relatively narrow, and somewhat "industrial" looking. From the photos online, this planter seemed to take on a bronzed-appearance. Well, in reality, it's just a matte black. No shading to the color at all. It does have ribbing, which gives it a bit more aesthetic appeal, and frankly, it this were just a flat black planter, it would look really ho-hum. I did notice that the matte black finish takes on marks easily - not so much scratches, but what you might see if you rubbed a basketball with your fingernail. It affects the color. So while the material is clearly durable, it will probably get an "aged" look over time. Once I realized this planter wasn't really right for brightly-colored flowers, I found the perfect application for it: to use as a tree planter. I had a Japanese maple planted in a ceramic planter, which had burst during the winter, huge chunks of the ceramic simply breaking off. I needed a slightly larger, much more durable container for my maple if it was going to survive. What was so nice about using this planter is that it's extremely lightweight for its size. I could barely move my ceramic planter that was smaller, but this Kobo planter could be lifted with one hand. That also means that once you place your plant in it, it remains relatively easy to move around. Even with a 6ft.-tall maple tree and soil up to the top, it could easily be moved by two people. Overall, the Kobo planter turned out to be perfect for me, but not for the reason I thought it would. Due to its tall, narrow shape and relatively plain appearance, it's ideal for use as a tree planter. I'm not sure it's ideal for a colorful display like what you see in the stock photos from the manufacturer. As for the price, it's up to you to decide if it's worth it to you. Ceramic planters of this size are typically cheaper, and may have a more appealing design, but they will be less durable, harder to work with due to their weight, and are not as "sustainable" because they aren't made of recycled material. One last note - this planter comes with a plastic plug in the bottom, which you can leave in if you don't want soil or water coming out (as for indoor use with a second smaller planter inside), or which you can remove for use as an outdoor planter where the soil will be placed directly in the planter. To keep the soil properly aerated, I recommend that the plug be removed for such applications, but take note - it is not easy to pop out. I actually jammed a screwdriver through it in the attempt to pop it out, which wasn't exactly the plan, but punching through the plug did make it easier to remove with a pliers.
