are there hiden fasteners for veranda products

Asked by: theboss
I installed 2500 sq ft of this decking and I used the CAMO fastening system which hides the screws by installing them at an angle on the sides of the boards. Worked GREAT!!

Thank you for your question. Yes, the Brown decking can be used for stair treads as they are square edge boards.

Can this product be use as a railer deck?

I been thinking on installing a deck on my 5X8 Steel trailer and I am considering weather treated wood and composite.
Asked by: zakthedragon
Thank you for your question. Composite materials are more flexible than wood, and require support spacing of no more than 16" on center, which most trailers do not have. We don't believe our product will be suitable for this application.

15/16 in. x 5-1/4 in. x 12 ft. Brown Square Edge Capped Composite Decking Board is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boards are warped and in cold it makes cracking noises like it's frozen I really wanted to like this decking. It looks nice but when it's cold outside I walk on my porch and I can hear cracking like the boards are frozen. The boards are warped and you have to really force them in place to maintain an even gap. I did my other porch about two years ago with Style Selections decking from the blue store. I have had no problems with that and the boards were all completely straight. Unfortunately I bought this because it was cheaper now I regret it. Fiberon is one of the highest priced decking brands out there. Veranda is probably the stuff that did not make their quality control checks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boards were warped when delivered Bought 108 12' pieces to redo my parents deck. The decking is nice looking but about half the boards were warped to begin with. Also on at least 1/3 of them the ends were not cut straight. In order to install the boards straight they had to be pushed while being screwed in. When I replaced my deck I bought the cheap boards at the other store and they came out perfectly straight with no extra effort needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value - looks nice Installed 400sf of this decking one year ago. So far it has held up very well. I would highly recommend pre-drilling before you screw them down. We did not take the time to do that and looking back, wish we would have done it Every screw has mushroomed but unless you are looking for it, it isn't really noticeable with the furniture. Also, if your deck requires shoveling, you will need to be careful because the shovel scratched it last winter. Overall, we are pleased with it so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed 2 Years Ago - Still Looks Great Rebuilt a deck - replacing wood with Veranda Brown decking material. Easy to work with - saws and drills just like wood. After two years, it looks as good as it did when we installed it. We like both the color and textured "grain." Meanwhile, the wood railings, which were stained at the time of the decking installation, need to be stained again. Highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great looking deck for my workshop. More costly? Of course!!! It is amazing. Easy to cut, deck screws were no problem, and it has strength and no skid! Very happy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Costly alternative to trational decking I installed this product last year, to replace a 18 yr old wood deck. After so many years of pressure washing and staining, we figured we would try something with a little less maintenance. This cuts like regular wood, put takes more time since you have to predrill each screw hole. You also need to make sure that your joists meet the minimum distance require (16" max, 12" if running on a diagonal). If you use it on stairs your stringers need to be 9" on center. Not sure it was really worth the extra money, we will find out if it helps when we move soon. Now it seems that home depot is not going to carry this, I would think before buying anything else exclusive to home Depot again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Questionable product Contrary to Fiberon saying this decking material will not "warp" or "stain," it DOES warp and stain. Also, when I filed a claim with Fiberon about the decking they would NOT stand behind it. I would NOT recommend this decking material to a friend for fear they would get the same results I did.
