I purchased a number of these PVC trim boards to replace badly rotted pine trim boards on the exterior of my home and detached garage. Unfortunately, my 12 year old home was built with inferior trim boards, especially the facing around the windows. These PVC trim boards come primed and ready to accept paint. The primer finish is dull white, so I painted the boards with a bright white exterior paint prior to installation, and then filled the holes with wood putty and touched up the areas with another coat of paint. The product labeling is difficult to remove, so be sure it's installed facing your work. These boards are more flexible than wood, but accept mitered and straight cut just the same. Some of the boards I installed two years ago look as good today as the day they were installed. They have not rotted or turned black or green as other PVC products I've seen. Other reviews on this product spoke to excessive shrinkage, as much as a 1/4 inch at the joints, but I butted the boards up against one another using a polyeurethane adhesive and nailed them into place. I live in New England where the exterior boards are subject to hot summers and cold winters, and I haven't had any issue with shrinkage. These PVC boards are significantly more costly than the same size pine boards, but they'll look good and last much longer.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Brad Poorly made, dirty, not worth buying
This product ended up being returned instead of being used. The faces were extruded but all edges appeared to be cut. This results in a much rougher surface that will attract dirt, especially if you're not planning on painting. They were also all filthy and every one had at least a couple scratches or gouges. They would all need to be scrubbed clean but then painting would hide most of the defects. I would not attempt to stain based on the board appearance. Since the edges were cut, they were very sharp compared to the other boards I've used with extruded edges too. I would not recommend this product.

Easy to work with woodworking tools, and accepts paint easily. Best of all it is termite resistant and does not degrade with time. Wish all the windows are treated with this product.
