I bought a dozen. Half work fine; the others don't light at night unless I take off the unit and turn it upside down. Then it lights. Any ideas?

Answer:
I use a weak solution of Dawn on a soft cloth, then rinse off with clean water....these are very durable items and stand up very well to all weather situations.
Hope this helps...

Answer:
Buy a pack of name brand brand AA rechargeable batteries (4 for about $10). Replace battery in those lights not staying on as long. Old battery is likely not holding a full charge.

Solar lights work depending on how much light they get during the day to charge them. Solar lights work depending on how much light they get during the day to charge them. If a couple of your lights only last a couple hours at night it might be that they are getting some shade during the day where as the other two are obviously getting sunlight for most if not all day long. I have four that are spaced on the railing along my lower deck and ramp. I have one that works less than the others just because it doesn't get as much sunlight during the day. I plan to buy more of these post lamps for another ramp that I have running to the back of my yard. I suspect they will work differently than the others too as they get more afternoon shade. Answer:
Just pull out the tab of paper that is sticking out of the battery area, and if it won't come out open battery case and take out the paper, then make sure batteries are in correct position before closing the battery compartment back up.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice and reasonable Just what I was looking for without spending a fortune. Looks very nice on the caps for my fence posts. September 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by For Decoration Only Very weak light…just let you know where the post cap is in the dark. Doesn't light up any area. Had to jam toothpicks under the tops to keep them tightly on so that the wind or squirrels wouldn't knock them off. February 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by my awesome deck and lights These lights gave my deck just the right flair, so we can enjoy my deck even at night. these light even add the safety feature of lighting your way around the deck.If anyone were wanting to add something special to the yard or deck this is a great buy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solar Post Caps - 4PK I have many of these lining my long driveway. They are not real bright but they do the job that I intended for them. They clearly show the roadway. When fully charged they stay lit all night long. I have had several of these for 2 years and only had one fail. Recommend. May 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking Accent Piece Looks nice, light isn't for using to see but more decorative April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just can't beat this one for a solar cap light.... I purchased two of these last year in 2013 mid summer in the Home Depot store near where I live. They worked as described and were a great price. I was hesitant to spend a lot because I wasn't sure what to expect so I figured you can't go wrong with Home Depot and the price on this little solar light cap was very attractive. They held up amazing, gave off just enough light my husband and I like to call "mood" light yet enough to allow you to see around below the post. I ordered another 12 this year on the deal of the day in a 4 pack for the back deck. We recently had the back deck done in Trex decking so really the Trex posts only allow for their high end wired lights. I really wanted solar because they are low cost and energy efficient so I bought the 12 for the Trex posts. They did not fit into the sleeve that goes over the existing posts from our old deck so I bought an adapter from Home Depot for around $1.50 a pc to attach to the Trex posts and the solar caps I bought fit right on no problem. Even made the light look more elegant as it was slightly raised. Very easy to install. Please see before and after pictures. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Product - Great value Great lights, good quality especially for the price April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product We have now had these up for about 8 weeks and love them. Easy to install. They do not give off alot of light but we were not looking for a well lit area. Gives off more of a glow around our pool..They work great. August 5, 2013
