These caps look very nice and are inexpensive. However, when it rains, they leak through the solar panel on the top. Everyone of the 11 caps I purchased had this problem. The water stands inside the middle inside of the cap and rusts the four small screws that hold the bottom together. These screws are not galvanized. The water also leaks to the bottom of the cap and gets trapped between the cap and the wood post. The most important aspect of a post cap for me is protecting the top of the post. These caps not only fail to keep the water from the post, but trap it there inviting decay. I thank Home Depot for easily refunding my expenditure.

Post caps were cheap and easy to put on, but the light quit after about a month. Still looks good, but it looks stupid at night.

My first surprise was the fit. My desk post are slightly smaller, that the cap. This makes a lot of slop in the fit. Next I was disappointed with light level. It was very low, but at first it lasted almost all night. Until the first rain killed 8 out of 10 of my units. I took them off the post and poured out the water. Poor design light photo sensor sits in socket with 2 holes in the bottom of the socket for the wires to go through. The rain sits in socket drips inside and shorts out the device electronics. The device might work better if you sealed top photo sensor on all 4 sides with a silicone, to prevent water from getting in. Just 2 weeks and the internal parts are rusting.

Although easy to install, for the amount of light emitted, well below the value for the price. I would not buy this item again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Great value for the price. Looks more expensive that it was. Light is more of an accent light than adding a lot of light to the area that you put these end caps. Up now for three weeks and have had lots of rain and snow in Utah with no issues with the lights giving out so far. Size is close for a true 3.5" X 3.5" post.

These solar powered deck lights add a nice finishing touch to our deck. I've purchased 14 of them and they are doing well into their second year of use in a harsh Northern Michigan climate.

Now that the price has dropped on these there are a better value. At $7 I think they're decent, at $9 they were a little pricey for the level of quality. I have had a few work intermittently but other than one that actually broke when I was installing it they're holding up fairly well. I have almost 20 that have been mounted along the top of my fence since last year and just picked up another 20 this morning for the rest of the fence as I continue to build it this spring. They're not bright but in my application that's what I wanted, not to light up the house, just to mark the fence line.
