This is an additional question. Sorry, but this is all a foreign language to me. I'm not a contractor, but I am the one ordering and paying. I'm just trying to order what I need and hire someone to do the work. We're installing two 8-foot Veranda Lafayette panels and then a right angle to a 6-foot long one: L-shaped, in other words. This is all going where there used to be chain link fence that was removed before I bought the house. However, the concrete base and post supports are still there, in the concrete. So we don't need to sink these posts into the ground, which is why I was trying to find 4-foot ones to go with the 4-foot-high fence panels. I think I just need "sleeves," but the panels must hook into the posts, so maybe I need "end posts," instead. There's only one post that will merely join two panels. Two others are end posts and one is the post for "turning the corner," joining panels at a right angle. It's a waste of material and money to order a 6-ft post for a 4-foot fence, when what I need are 4 posts of some kind, maybe two or three different kinds, for a 4-foot fence. This is taking a ridiculous amount of your time and mine to figure out. Here are the possibilities, so could you please just tell me which ones to order?
Veranda Model # 73003561
4 in. x 4 in. x 39 in. White Traditional Post Jacket
Best and reasonable price but no slots to attach panels and too short for 48" H fence panels
And you said in response to my question elsewhere that hooks aren't required, yet they're for sale and come up when you order the panels, and something has to hook into the slots in the posts. So I don't see how "sleeves" work with the panels, yet I want to use existing posts but cover them up with material that matches the fence panels.
Veranda Model # 118676
4 in. x 4 in. x 6 ft. Vinyl LaFayette Routed Fence End Post
But these are stand-alone, don't go =over= my existing posts? And I'd pay for and waste more than a foot for each one, because they're 6 feet and it will be a 4-foot fence? Sounds like these are NOT the right ones, because they're to sink into the ground. But thery're the ONLY ones that show a likely way to =attach= the panels.
Veranda Model # 73010699:
White Vinyl Square Fence Post (Common: 4 in. x 4 in. x 6 ft.; Actual: 4.0 in. x 4.0 in. x 72.0 in.)
For all 4? Where are the hooks for the panels? How will this work with existing posts? It's also just a sleeve but stronger, or what?
Veranda Model # POST SLV 48 WH VER
Regency/Enclave 4 in. x 4 in. x 48 in. White Capped Composite Post Sleeve
At least this is the right height (although needs to be higher than panels to work with caps?)
Veranda Model # 73002149
4 in. x 4 in. x 100 in. Vinyl Post Jacket White
Buy 2, cut each in half?
Yeah, I know it's not ideal, but this is what I've got to work with and will, somehow.
