Rated 1 out of 5Â by Jack Junk Railing made by Barrett
Purchase and installed in June 2014 but one six-foot section did not survive first snowfall in New Jersey yesterday.
Did not register purchase within 30 days of purchase so now I must order and pay for another 6 foot railing kit and wait for thaw to replace. Disappointed that after paying top dollar the item did not hold up in winter use.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Texas123 Railing Kit works great
I installed Veranda Pro Rail around my entire patio and down my patio stairs. Normally the Pro Rail is used with the 5x5 post covers but I preferred the look of the smaller post and since all of my corners were 90 degree I could use the 4x4 post/cover. Everything worked as designed and the finished product looks wonderful. The install did take longer than I anticipated but we got faster as we gained experience. Remember this is a plastic/PVC product and all the screws go into plastic so you need to be careful not to over tighten (I also pre-drilled and ended up going through a couple of the square drive bits). Once everything is assembled the railing is very sturdy, some of my railings were just under the maximum length and even those feel sturdy. Since none of this product is stocked locally I was concerned that if I messed something up I would have to reorder and wait for it to arrive, by following the instructions (they were included) and being very careful everything worked fine. I did call Veranda with a couple of questions, once before I placed my order and once during installation, their support people were easy to reach and very knowledgeable about the product. Using this railing system was much less expensive than wrought iron, I believe it looks much better and it will never need painting, of course the big reason it was less expensive is my wife and I had to install it ourselves.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by 383man very strong and sturdy
I built a deck 4 years ago with the lower class veranda railing, and it seemed flimsy and wouldn't trust the weight of an adult leaning against it, the veranda pro is different, it's very stong and sturdy, doesn't give or flex at all. the installation directions are ok, pretty self explanatory stuff. the people who review this low because of deminsion error, that is they thought it would be 6 feet and it wasnt, clearly didn't look at the "specifications" section on this very page before purchasing lol, says right on it the exact measurements, which i used to set my posts correctly. great product veranda, i'm impressed. the only reason i rated it a 4, is that brackets are not included, why the heck not, I knew they werent, and bought them seperately, but seriously, you need the bracket kit to install them, no getting around it, why not include them...don't understand...

You asked about the posts, you use standard 4x4s for the posts and buy the vinyl post slip covers for them. They are sold seperately from the railing kit.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Headnsouth Railing looks great and installs easily. Description needs to show actual length.
I would have given it a higher rating if the actual lengths were correct. Why do you advertise a 6' or 8' rail when it's not the actual length?
This has screwed up my project and delayed it's finish date. I got lucky with my 8' section and the 8' kit fit. I wasn't so lucky with my 6' sections. Now I have to buy 8" sections and waste material. I'm just hoping HD will exchange the 6' sections.
One more thing, the Veranda supplier for the Buford Georgia HD took about 2 months to get their act together so my HD could even give me a price. Delivery time isn't great either. It took 3 weeks for my order to come in.
