I ended up going with lumber instead - the idea of something that wouldn't fade or be susceptible to termites was really appealing but plastic lumber just has too many issues like:
1. You need additional cross rails
2. Limits on the distance you can span between posts
3. Height - really wasn't psyched about my fence dropping 3 inches in height
I was able to return this at my local store which I really appreciate. Home Depot is great. This product just wasn't for me

I modified the fencing to fit my needs. Cutting the pickets, posts, rails was easy and not noticeable. I went with this type fencing to defeat termites and improve the looks of my yard/garden.

We really like the quality of the fencing, it's exactly as we expected. It looks even better after we finished putting up the fence. Just as an FYI, we put up a "shadowbox" style fence using the narrow side of a 2x4 as the gap between pickets. Installed on pressure treated 2x4 rails and thick steel posts...mostly in 6' sections.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Drken Not A Sturdy Product
This is a flimsy product. Most boards are warped in some manner. You have to bend them into shape. It takes three 2X4 cross supports per section to keep them reasonably aligned. Several edges/corners arrived crushed. The cut dog ear edges leave an exposed composite material that can flake--I will be sealing these edges. For the cost or less, a high quqlity cedar product can be purchased, which is what I would do if I could start over.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by gateway Composite gates.
The composite picket fence pieces were perfect for my two gates. One gate was 48" wide and the other 60" wide. The height was exactly has I needed. I used brown treated 2" X 4" backing and fastened the pickets with 2" decking screws. The gates look good and no more picket painting. Since the gates were so wide and tall; the pickets had to be crossed braced to make them ridged. I also put a 2" X 4" across the bottom edges to prevent bending. The hinges were fastened to a 2" X 4" secured to the block walls with lag bolts. I had to rip one piece of picket fencing on each gated to fill the gate opening perfectly. The picket fence material cut well with a sharp hand saw. The picket fencing was great to to work with. No painting, no splinters, no problem.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BigD Great Fence - Low Maintenance
I installed approx. 500 feet of fence using these boards six years ago and they are holding up great. I am installing another 360 feet this year. The first time I used three 2x4 stringers (support rails) but there is some slight warping in the boards from lack of support. This time I am using four support rails and it is looking great. No warranty using the 2x4 pressure treated lumber but I have no concerns. Boards do break at the top if you push on them to open a gate and such or if they drag the ground. My fence looks great and I get many compliments on it. No issues with breaking, warping or fading. Any warping was from my trying to cut costs and any breakage was due to lack of being careful. Very satisfied with this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fenceman Veranda Jatoba composite fence boards
Product was well packaged for shipping, All boards were in great shape. Each board has a slight bow, but if you align each board, with the bow in the same direction, it looks great. Staples will bend if the board isn't pushed tight to the rails. It causes it to bounce. The wood grain looks real and hopefully the fence looks as great as it does now, for years to come. They recommended staples because screws will hold the boards too firm and cause the boards to bow in extreme heat. They want you to buy their posts and rails too, doubling or tripling the cost. Their rails are for 6' post spacings. I used existing posts, 8' centers, with 3 rails and the top rail with 2- 2x4s (treated lumber) screwed in an L shape to stiffen, to prevent fence from sagging.
