Spacing

What is the spacing on these connectors?
Asked by: Ronn
board to board spacing is taken care of by the fastener, end to end board spacing depends on the outside temperature when installing - go here http://www.verandadeck.com/products/composite-decking/armorguard/ and download the PDF.

With these fasteners after installed can individual joist be removed with out disassembling entire deck ?
Asked by: Redbull
Thank you for your question. No, joists cannot be removed, but if you are referring to the deck boards, it would be possible to remove a board to replace if the deck is accessible from underneath. The board to be replaced would have to be cut out and the start/ stop end clips could be used to reinstall the new board from underneath.

ArmorGuard Hidden Deck Fastener Kit is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fasteners for Veranda decking I have installed different brands of composite decking and I must say that I prefer this type of clip to other brands. It is made of metal with teeth that actually grab into the material and pulls it down tight to the joists. When installing deck boards to joists, make sure the joists are even. Take your time and use a level to find high spots. Then plane to make them level. I found it easy to install 20 foot decking myself once the joists were even.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from End result is nice, screws are cheap These fasteners give a clean and finish look to the deck. The spacing is a little wider than I expected (about 1/4"), but doesn't look bad at all. My only gripe is with the screws. They seem cheap and strip extremely easily- one wrong move with the driver and that's a wrap for the screw. I do not recommend using the bit provided in the kit...purchase a long #1 square bit that allows you to easily maneuver between the boards, and screw straight. The bit provided is too short and forces you to screw at an angle as you get closed to the joist, making it easy to strip the screws heads. Overall, not bad. Price tag is a bit high given the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Really enjoyed using these fasteners - they made the deck look great, were easy to use and actaully helped in aligning the boards. Expected the automatic spacing (which is great) but was pleasantly surprised that when you tighten down the fastener it will push the board just a bit which really helped sometimes when it was just a bit out of alignement. Had plenty of butt fasteners left over (using mostly 16ft Veranda composite boards) however there are no problems using these in place of the regular fasteners so no big deal. Agree with the other posts that a smaller qty. $25-$30 box would be helpful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality, butt... The number of fasteners is now up to the indicated 100 (with at least 100 screws and a small square driver bit) but the number of butt fasteners is only 6 (versus the 10 indicated on the box). I used several boxes and all had only 6 butt fasteners. Good quality, easy to install otherwise.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks Great, slow install I put down an entirly new deck with these fasteners. It was slow going, no matter what I did. The finished product looks great, but when I was done I had to ask myself, what happens if I have to repair a board in the middle? The only answer incan come up with is to take out al. Of the boards that come before it. That would be a lot of work. I hope it lasts for 30 years or more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tricky Installation is not for the feint of heart. Surface must be practically plane as possible. Definitely a 2 man operation if installing any board over 6ft. Natural gap created between boards is 1/4 inch which some people do not want. If you drop anything in between them, you have to take the whole system up to retrieve it. The coverage is quite expensive as opposed to face fastening.
