Customer Questions & Answers

do i need brackets to fence panel to the posts ?

Asked by: cathy15
Yes. Using the recommended brackets makes installation much easier. You'll need two packages (four brackets) per panel.

How far apart are the actual pickets on the panel?

Someone mentioned in a review that one of their dogs could fit it's head through the pickets. I imagine it could be a small dog, but I have two small children and a dog. Thanks
Asked by: Mh
The space between the pickets is 3-13/16".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install and has a nice, clean look afterwards My landscaper, who has built wood fences for me in the past, was willing to install a vinyl white-picket fence with two gates for me after the last wood fence became rotten. He was impressed with how easy it was to cut the panels and posts to the desired size and install the hardware. My ONLY warning to a potential buyer is to FORGET BUYING THE OVER-PRICED AND USELESS "GATE KIT"!! The hinges were weak and inefficient, causing the gate to close itself as soon as it was opened, so that I couldn't walk through while pushing the wheelbarrow. I had to tie the gate open to be able to walk through with a load. The glue used to attach the gate panel to the hinges didn't last, so the gate just pulled right off the hinges after a few days. We finally took off the crummy hinges and installed regular gate T-hinges. That's my only big complaint. Just use regular gate hardware. Other than that, I'm happy with the look of the fence and knowing it won't rot or get filthy like my last white fence. This one will be easy to clean and last a long time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING We moved into our new home Sept 2014 and one of the first things we did was purchase 17 Veranda Glendale panels to keep our toddler and dogs in the yard. We started building the fence last October until the weather stopped us. We picked up the project in April 2015. When we realized we needed 7 more panels, I went though the original online order placed in September and bought 7 more of the same panels. When the panels were received, they were noticeably different. Lighter in weight, less structure - not the same as what we bought in Sept. The product has been changed to a lower quality and the price, granted, had decreased by $4. We assumed it was a mistake and returned them. Home Depot customer service denied any changes in the product, but it was clearly different. We're still trying to get those 7 matching panels in August. Home Depot is just now admitting they're different panels and tell us they can't help us. Personally, I would not invest my money into the new, dinkier version of these Glendale panels. Our original 17 panels are holding up beautifully (except our Stihl weed trimmer took a chunk out of the bottom of one of them) and I'd give those panels 5 stars after 9 months and a Pennsylvania winter. We have gotten so many compliments from our neighbors. I only wish we could finish our project correctly!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good decision After a year of looking great the pickets started popping off, attempted to reglue with vinyl fence cement but doesn't help and now after our winter and snow I have over 12 pickets that have popped free and when you have 16 sections of fence this gets to be a pain!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Product I really like these fence panels. The pickets are dog-eared and fit thru the middle of the rails which are closed rectangular pieces. The rails are not open along the bottom like some that I've seen. And because the picket goes thru the middle of the rails, I don't have to worry about a windstorm blowing them off. The fence panels come assembled and shrink wrapped. I bought 4 panels (two for either side of my white vinyl arbor) and all 4 panels were shipped in one large box about 4'x8'. I had no problem getting them home in the back of my compact pickup. I bought the slightly more expensive fence brackets so I don't have any screws showing where the fence panels attach to the 4x4 posts. I'm very happy with this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bracket supports (interior "arms") break after installation The brackets used to install the fence break after installation. Many of the brackets have broken within days or weeks of installation. I have been monitoring and more continue to break. I now need to disassemble and reassemble with new brackets in hopes they will not break again. You may never notice as the defective portion is not exposed to view. I discovered the issue when I noticed one of the rails was sagging in the bracket. Over time, if broken, your fence will fall apart. I would suggest purchasing many extra brackets in the event they are changed or discontinued in the future and you have an entire fence that is now unrepairable. View the photos where you can see the portion of the brackets that actually support the rails are under great pressure, bending inwards, which eventually succumb and break. The photos were taken from the underside looking up into the rails at the brackets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Our experience with building a fence. Hard to assemble, the pieces did not appear to fit properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value I chose these panels because I could split one to make a double 4' gate and I wasn't disappointed Installation is easy with the purchase of the recommended fence clips and even though the panels are rigid and do not "rack", it's possible to adjust the pickets to accommodate a slope..
