Screw Size for use with Veranda Steel post install kit

The 2" screw size is not compatible with the veranda steel posts (Model # 73014098). The screw hits the corner of the metal center post. What do you suggest using? The directions do not specify what type of screw to use for this installation. It appears the hard plastic insert is designed to take a shorter #10 or #12 screw.
Asked by: Deckguy
Thank you for your question. The post you have referenced (model #73014098) is for use with a vinyl rail system, which has different brackets than the Regency/ Enclave composite rails. The correct post mount to use is model #BKT SLV MT W/WD KT V, which does require the 2 inch screws to secure into wood.

What size screws are these (#10 or #12)? I need some extra of the 1" version since the longer ones don't work with the veranda metal posts.

Asked by: Deckguy
Thank you for your question. The screws are a #10 screw, but a 2 inch length is necessary to make sure the railing is properly secured to the post to ensure stability.

Regency/Enclave White Stainless Steel Angle Rail Hardware Kit is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Give me a break !!! Post screws are to short, but you need them to match the straight rail brackets. I thought the straight brackets were overpriced at $19, but these angle brackets threw me for a loop at $40. It's a quite a mark up for $2 brackets with hardware .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for attaching a rail at a 45 degree angle to a post I bought this bracket to attach a Pro Rail at a 45 degree angle to a deck post. It works well with Pro Rail. I don't know about other railings. The only issue is when using a surface mount post metal bracket. The bottom rail bracket screws hit the metal post bracket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job These brackets are a must to do a professional job for angle cuts. They keep the railing strong since they center on the rails. A little pricey though.
