These brackets are not adjustable right?

They are fixed at a 32 dg. which is more for a 6" rise on the stairs. Most common stairs have a 7" to 8" rise which is more like a 36 to a 42 dg. A 32dg is not a common stair angle. Your brackets should be adjustable. The only thing that is adjustable is the rail itself.
Asked by: DC
Hello and thank you for your question. These brackets are adjustable 26-32 degrees which fits code compliant stairs. If you need a bracket with more adjustability (for ramps or older homes with steeper stairs) we another style model #73003210

How do you have 6 degrees of adjustability?

Someone asked this earlier and an "expert" replied "Hi MJC and thank you for your question. These brackets are one solid piece of plastic instead of an "elbow" type of bracket, however once the railing is inserted, there is room for adjustability of =/- 6 degrees. There's a PDF of the instructions on this product page (just scroll down slightly), the diagrams should make assembly more clear." The PDF does not show how to adjust this.

Customer Reviews

Vinyl Traditional Rail Stair Bracket Kit (4-Pack) is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Screws are the weak point The nonadjustable angles were a bit off, but I was able to use them as is. The worst part are the easily stripped screws included. They use square drive screws, and I'm wondering if that was the best choice. Torx might have been better, or even Allen head. Considering the price of the kit, they really should have included an extra screw or two. I was lucky that I was able to do the installation without needing to purchase extra screws, but I can see people having a major problem with this. Believe it or not, I used a small cordless impact wrench (from the well known HF store) to speed installation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stair Brackets You use to have adjustable brackets which would work with many stair angles but with this fixed 32 dg. which is not a common angle does not work

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from this product The fit was on the tight side but after returning a pair and buying 2 more packs to get 1 decent fitting pair I realized none of them were decent. Installed them at a clients house 7 months ago and got a call back that one side fell off Went to look at it and sure enough half of the installed brackets were cracked and failed. Do yourself a favor and stay away from veranda.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Substitute The manufacturer of this product line use to produce a stair post adapter that was completely adjustable. It was well designed and worked great. Then for some unknown reason they stopped making it and instead supplied this fixed angle atrocity. Sure it works great if your stair angle happens to the fixed angle but if it's not your screwed. As it turns out I ordered the former product online just as Home Depot was discontinuing it. They acknowledged my order as usual and even sent me a "your order has been shipped" notification a couple of weeks later. I waited and waited. When my order never showed I checked it status online. It was gone! It had been completely erased by Home Depot - no record of it ever having been entered. Not only that but in my order history where I had ordered the same product previously, it had been deleted as well. Way to go Home Depot!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overpriced and Screw are CHEAP Four. Pieces. of. plastic. $20+. And the screws are absolute garbage, they strip even in the best situations. Next time I will spend the $1000 for a 3D printer and probably still save money and have a better quality product. I also ordered these three times, each time they shipped and arrived with less than what I ordered. Its been a month of ordering and I still dont have all the ones I need. IF you get these, lose the screws and find some alternatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good substitute for parts no longer available We installed a "Wiliamsburg" brand polyvinyl deck railing and stair system several years ago. The precise fittings that came with that product went out of production in the interim. Meanwhile, since we had retained some other spare parts, but not the fittings, we were in the market for stair brackets so we could expand our access options on a multi-tiered deck. This product, while not exactly like the original, was an economically satisfactory alternative and was engineered well. I had no difficulty n installing the new stair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2nd set of Brackets!! These brackets are recommended for the stair rail kit we purchased. They DO NOT fit & NEITHER do the other brackets recommended. For THREE weeks we have been unable to finish my 71 yr old mom's new home.
