There are a few factors that will play into this question and determine the answer. What metal type? Aluminum? Most likely, yes. Wall thickness of the 'metal'. Thin wall? Most likely, yes. It should cut thru steel, such as conduit but thicker steel wall tubing, like schedule 40 or 80 pipe it may not. Part of this also depends on the quality (H.P.) of the saw being used with this blade. Since this blade is most commonly used on smaller, lite duty "hobby" saws, they you might be limited to thin wall steel, aluminum, brass, copper, etc. The last factor to consider is your feed-in speed. I can cut thru thicker/larger tubing but the speed at which I can feed the tubing into the blade is SLOW. I would be far better off cutting it with a hacksaw, in some cases. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Band saw blade Could not find product in store so ordered online. Came within reasonable amount of time and easy to order and receive. April 6, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SAW BLADE WORKS! I used this band for a Skil band saw I purchased from Home Depot online. It was rated the highest on an online review of most band saws and I needed the blade for cutting metal as the original is for wood. It cuts through Aluminum like BUTTER! Unbelievable how easy it cut. But I tried it on steel and it slowed the unit down to a stop before cutting even an 1/8 inch. Would not recommend for steel. Not sure what type of steel I was cutting but it 1/16th inch thick and it would not cut it easily. I used a hack saw and it went through it like butter. But for wood and aluminum, thumbs up for this blade. I cut some wood and didn't feel like changing the blade and it worked. I highly recommend this band saw blade AND the Skil band saw! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as it was designed to. This is a Bi-Metal blade and it works as designed. I've read other reviews that dog it for not cutting steel but it's not the blades fault. Unless you have a multi-speed metal spacific bandsaw that can run slow enough for cutting steel you will overheat this blade, ruin it and get nowhere fast. With the speed most wood cutting bandsaws run, you can however cut soft metals such as copper, brass and aluminum with this blade. Since I got it I have cut 1/4" billet copper and billet aluminum up to 3/8" thick (so far) without any problems. Just take your time heat is your enemy. February 25, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Meets the requirements of my Art Studio needs Vermont American 59-1/2 in. x 3/8 in. x 18 TPI Band Saw Blades are the only blades I have found that precisely cut segments I use in my segmented bowls. The fine cuts also eliminate the need to use a disk sander to square the sides for the butt joint gluing. June 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good price - quality and durability good too I'm using this in a little 9" Skill bandsaw. I've been cutting several sections of strand-woven bamboo flooring (probably about 8 meters total of the 15.8mm thick boards) and I'd say it's got about 40% of it's life remaining. That's not bad since this stuff is very hard on saw blades. I'll buy another of these blades when the time comes. November 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good blads This blade works great for the light woodwork I do. July 14, 2015
